I had to log into my abandoned Twitter/X account to be able to see something shared online 🙄. Login wasn't accepted. Just an endless login failure loop. Figured out I needed to reset my password. The UI doesn't pop-up a "time to reset your password" as is usually the case since... decades.

None of this login UI weirdness existed whenever I last had to log in to Twitter/X months ago. Many users would give up and not figure out workarounds like I did. This is utterly user-hostile, badly designed and un-tested UX.

Upon signing-in X Money had sent me $5. By the look-of-it I couldn't access that $5 until I pay for a "verified" account; This is an ad to get me using and paying for X. Gotta love the dollar sign logo icon repeating twice-in-a-row in both green and white. The same art repeating in two contexts? 🤷‍♂️

Logging in or changing my password is super weird; It won't let me type past one letter without forcing a long pause (bad validation script?). Once I successfully reset password, autofill of my 2FA authentication code does not work — unless I manually type it in. Also, this is all really slow.

A bit unfinished and a day late for #nokings, but here's one of my 20 collages for a digital art book that accompanies an album driven by current events I'm working on. Started a few weeks ago, but finally got this up-to-speed this morning.

It’s an unpalatable truth, but Meta, TikTok, and hopefully it goes without saying, X, aren’t sustainable to rely on for political amplification, cultural promotion/marketing or community organizing. It’s long past time for new platforms/means and to move on.

This period will go down as one of the greatest moments for Democrat attack ads in history. We're seeing LBJ "Daisy"-level spots daily.

LMFAO -- Trump is holding an event at the White House right now but there's no audio because the press pool isn't there. The Newsmax host notes that this is an example of Trump's attacks on the press "backfiring just a little bit"

Indie documentary by a filmmaker friend I worked on is now streaming free with ads; Off-and-on I spent 2.5 years making ~16m of collage-style animation, restoring photos, and more. It's about about life choices we all make and is both fun and therapeutic. fawesome.tv/movies/10827...

"Frasier" s07e23, comparison of what it looked like directed and originally broadcast, and how it currently looks on Paramount+ (re-framed for 16:9 using previously unused film negative). Gotta love how you can see the elevator doors (which are 'closed') which are plainly visible in the 16:9.

Actual quote by a guy on our local online message board, arguing that the t-shirt & slogan for the town’s annual 4th of July parade was too woke & anti-Trump: "I for one do not want to see a 4th of July parade celebrating revolutionary resistance."

Talked to a group of design students this morning. All their questions were about AI. Most of them feel like they’re graduating into a field where they’re no longer welcome. We have a new generation of people who want to do the work and we’re going to lose them. No one wants this shit.

Paramount+ wanted to use the image on the left as a poster for the wrath of Khan, so they used everyone's least favorite technology to generate the rest of the image.

I've watched only the first 10 minutes, but holy crap this is great!

would anyone want to collab on building and maintaining a site for people to submit tech stories? i have a domain and some early concepts, but tbh, the prospect of moderating submissions while i’m still dealing with my own burnout feels daunting

Some sketchbooks I like. Pith ‘Pomelo’ - very smooth, creamy paper. Slightly odd truncated A4 format but feels good in your hand

If I was more liquid I'd be collecting fonts like this constantly.

“We had the idea to make a Bodoni interpretation with potato stamps, so we bought 8kg of potatoes, some knives and [started carving]. When we finally had the full alphabet we stamped it on paper, made a font out of this and called it Bodedo.” [hvdfonts.com]

We're all going to be using our devices for longer than we planned so my advice to you: settings > battery > charging > set limit to 80% [on iOS or macOS]. Making sure your computer or phone never goes above 80% will *quadruple* its life compared to charging it to 100% every evening.
