Who would have guessed that Russia would abuse a humanitarian truce? How many people are going to disappear in Russian filtration camps?

Kate from Kharkiv@kateinkharkiv.bsky.social

People from Oleshky who wish to return to Ukrainian-controlled territory will first be taken to Crimea or Russia, according to FT sources‼️ At this point, we can only brace ourselves for a massive Russian propaganda campaign, legitimized on the international stage by Newsmax's presence.

Hennepin Co. neighbors: vote for CEDRICK FRAZIER aka @cedrickfrazier.bsky.social, NOT Anders Folk, who is a Republican - though he’s trying to hide it. Folk will of course support ICE in more murder and kidnapping. Cedric Frazier has promised to prosecute ICE. He’s the only choice!! Thank you.

We are proud to have Representative Cedrick Frazier represent the DFL on the ballot this year for Hennepin County Attorney. He is the only DFL-endorsed candidate in this race, and we encourage all Hennepin County DFLers to vote for him on or before November 3rd!

In Minneapolis, which Flanagan's campaign notes was the "heart of Operation Metro Surge," early voter turnout last week hit 101% of equivalent 2024 turnout.

Meanwhile, opinions of Trump in MN are so low that Michelle Tafoya is running ads where she never mentions what party she's in, that end with the tagline, "An INDEPENDENT Voice!" So it's nice of Diaper Don to remind everyone that she's with him.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Let's all get behind Michele Tafoya in MN. She's running a great race. Don't allow them to play with the Votes after the race is over. The Federal Govt will be watching closely. The only way she can lose is if they cheat. We can't allow that to happen, because I won MN three times ... "

Someone said last winter that Jesse is a walking, talking collection of red flags who yet somehow manages to wind up on the side of decency...

Jesse Ventura to Piker: "Here's what pisses me off -- I did 2 tours, 17 months. So did my brother. Southeast Asia. That was at the same time Donald Trump was running and hiding like the coward he is. Why didn't he join us in the Vietnam War? I've heard him talk. He said he should be a general!"

You can't beat fascism by agreeing with fascism. You can't beat fascists by accepting a fascist frame. Corporatist Democratic Party leadership needs to be defeated and jettisoned. We have to fight them, not because we don't want to fight Republicans, but because they refuse to.

Wintersong@wintersong.bsky.social

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC - @electdemocrats.bsky.social) is running anti-trans ads now, so I don't know how you can say the party itself isn't embracing transphobia. There are still some good Dems out there, but transphobia is apparently a party value.

This is the third ratfucker anti-Klob mailer I’ve gotten this month. They don’t seem to get that I know her flaws already and that I want every elected Minnesota Republican sent to space jail.

I worked in an Ohio court for several years in the 90s and what happens when a judge issues a warrant is that the cops enter the warrant into their database and...go have another coffee. If it's not murder or agg assault, they will not spend time looking for the person. A huge chunk of warrants are

So a thing that puzzles me about this story: Acton’s stepfather is criminally charged with serially sexually assaulting a preteen child. Mom and stepfather apparently flee the jurisdiction. And then… what? It’s not a fucking speeding ticket. But there’s no indication anything further happened.

"...there will be an active warrant for him in the county system within 30 minutes." She immediately called her sister. I came into work the next day and he was in the county jail.

(Just realized I should clarify why I called my friend...the whole time I was typing, I kept thinking, "I know this name...why do I know this name?" And my friend's sister was the only person I knew in that county who was trying to get water out of a deadbeat stone.)

Also, IIRC, the stepdad was detained at first, posted bail to get out of jail, and THEN ran off. So his warrant probably just said it's for Failure To Appear for a court date, which looks very non-urgent.

I will note, if you call the issuing police department with a tip, they WILL usually act on it. I once typed up a warrant for the child support department, then called a friend and said, "Hey, what's your sister's deadbeat ex's name? Uh, if she or her friends know where he's hanging out lately...

executed because the dumbass with the warrant gets pulled over for speeding and the cop runs their name and realizes they're wanted. Once a year, our sheriff would do a warrant sweep where they'd spend a few days looking for people with old warrants, just so they could clear out some old records.

Now the same logic reaches the Kremlin's flagship city, and the complaints about "escalation" start right on schedule. The span is 620 meters long and eight lanes wide. It holds the city together. Trucks, fuel and supplies all cross it. You wrote the rules, boys. Enjoy playing by them.

Jacobin@jacobinmag.bsky.social

After years of warnings that the war in Ukraine could spiral into a full-on Russia-Europe conflagration, the conflict has reached a point where this is a real possibliity. It’s a prospect that threatens not just European lives but the entire globe.

Hard not to notice that Democrats who are doing the best are the ones who are leaving this whole civility-and-norms, we-go-high, we-need-a-strong-Republican-Party bullshit behind and are simply giving Republicans exactly what they all ought to get at all times, which is undisguised contempt.

The timing of this raid and reports that a White House official was involved raise serious questions that should concern all Americans, regardless of political party.

Hey, remember when the original Metro Gang Strike Force was disbanded because the cops in it were stealing motorcycles from minorities and getting false titles issued in their own names, and stealing cocaine from drug dealers and selling it at nightclubs to enrich themselves? Fuck this bitch.

As Governor, I will take on gang violence by establishing a Regional Gang Violence Task Force, help local police hire & retain more officers, & make sure police and first responders have the resources they need. I’ll bring my experience as a former prosecutor to the job of keeping Minnesotans safe.
