❗❗❗Mark Zuckerberg's meta just suspended the No Kings Instagram account. I just rushed back from my local No Kings to jump on this. Bottom line, would be helpful for all pro-No Kings folks to elevate the issue and help us get the word out about No Kings today. The Nerd Reich strikes again.

Writing a story about an elderly leader who has an unhealthy relationship with his daughter and keeps cloning her and turning those clones into his companions while he slowly loses his mind. Yeah it’s def science fiction and not based on anything in real life.

Replying to @kalimurray.bsky.social

President Trump and the Republicans had a two year romp through every political fantasy nourished in their heart since The John Birch Society and Richard Nixon, and you know what: it turns out their ideas were bad and are tanking the economy.

It is a little disconcerting that so many people who know a lot about LLMs on a technical level appear to go a little insane. It would be like if there was a really cool and effective new kind of pen, and for some reason about 40% of the people involved in the pen making process went mad.

Rage now leavened with a little laughter. Billionaire *incompetence* is legendary, yet it seems only to have consequences for the rest of us, never them.

The White House accord on AI that was signed by all the big tech oligarchs today misspells United States as “Unites States.”

Seriously just enforce normal liability for AI on the owners and so much of this shit goes away AI companies want to be treated like the hired expert when it comes to pocketing any financial flows, but like a cursory Google Search whenever it comes to liability

I feel like if AI wants to be in the business of offering medical opinions, then AI companies need to be in the "getting sued for medical malpractice" business too

Ossoff: Did you see this business about Don Jr.‘s wedding in the Bahamas? Where he received, apparently, a cash gift from a Russian oligarch connected to the Kremlin? This man, Kremlev, was apparently in China with Putin two days before he flew to the Bahamas for Don Jr.’s wedding…

This is a great thread on the dangers of using shitty metaphors to describe what AI is doing and how it shapes the narrative:

Dr Abeba Birhane@abeba.blacksky.app

"Did these AI models “go rogue”? Not exactly. the models were tasked with finding solutions to a hacking challenge, and this is what they attempted to do, though in an unintended and surprising manner." aiguide.substack.com/p/misleading...

“Elon Musk destroyed USAID as a mechanism for killing off as many of the global poor and non-white as he can before they kill him first (as he, insanely, believes)” is not a conspiracy theory. In truth, it’s very hard to conclude anything else.

For a certain kind of white man, there is no fear more primal than the fear that the people they have abused will gain power and treat them the same way.

Any sweeping systemic change you want to make in the United States has to begin with adding seats to the Supreme Court in 2029. No major reform bill will survive the current court. No civil rights law, no anti-corruption law, no wealth tax, nothing.

I do think “every rich person went insane during covid because it was the first time they’ve been inconvenienced in decades” felt a little reductive at first but damn if isn’t more and more compelling as the years drag on

The fundraising texts you delete are working on someone. It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. An 85yo in Ohio gave more than double the value of his home. A 91yo in an Indianapolis senior facility gave 25K times. The DCCC/DSCC don’t just tolerate the spammers who exploit seniors. They take part.

data4democracy.substack.comHook and SqueezeHow Democratic consultants, committees, and party leaders built a fundraising spam pipeline that funnels money from a captive pool of elderly donors into their own operations.

Eww

Trump: These young beautiful girls, these young beautiful girls, these young beautiful girls in the White House, they come in. Now I'm not supposed to say beautiful, but what the hell. These young, these gorgeous, beautiful girls, they want to be safe and they come say Mr. President, thank you, sir.

I know this has been pointed out many times by many people but I just want to reiterate: Anthropic is basically using Kurt Vonnegut's drawing of an asshole as the Claude logo

Wile E. Coyote, despaired, takes a bucket of paint and a brush and paints a beautiful two-bedroom house on a mountainside. He paints a beautiful coyote wife in the window, and two adorable coyote kids running around in the yard. He tries to enter this new coyote life, but it is inaccessible to him

The DOJ isn't the only part of the dishonest, corrupt, and incompetent Trump administration that is currently involved in a cover-up.

Mrs. Betty Bowers@mrsbettybowers.bsky.social

The Pentagon is withholding causality and hit numbers. The CDC is withholding infection rates. The FDA is withholding information about food contamination. The EPA is withholding pollution and climate data. This corrupt administration is ALL about concealing the consequences of its incompetence.

We are living in a country where the president can touch an underage girl's genitalia and there will be no repercussions—but if you DARE touch a pool of green water, you *will* be arrested and jailed. What a world . . .

Queers have it better today than we had things 20/30/40+ years ago, but we have it much worse than what we had only 5 years ago. Older queers are correct in saying young queers have a much easier time than we did. Younger queers are correct in saying they have it worse now than when they were kids.
