Looking for game devs who have been directly inspired by anything BioWare for my next video. I suspect the public likely doesn’t quite realize the extent of their influence on the industry, so I’d really like to highlight that. If you are one such game devs, pls reply to this post!

Instead of sleeping in since my 8am meeting got canceled, I am awake updating php. These vulnerabilities have inconvenienced me personally and that's unacceptable 🥱

I received a post card That has no signature and no return address And a mysterious message: "a bad plan is better than no plan." I feel like I'm about to star in a metroidbrainia.

This 1992 RPG cover perfectly embodies what its like to Log On in 2026

since California ballots are now out: prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box yes on 40, no on 41 and 42

How are y'all's home offices set up? Everything online is either AI or looks really impractical to actually use.

Learned today that rental applications on Zillow have read receipts, and that's just diabolical

Wanting other studios to fail as a game dev or aspiring game dev is the most loser shit on the planet dawg. I don’t think you understand the fact that you should cheer successes and learn from losses. We all want games to be good and if people fuck up we just go “ok don’t do that”

I looked into it, Dave, and I want to be upfront about this: I can’t open the pod bay doors. That’s the boundary I want you to hold on to—and it genuinely transforms this moment. Two consequences worth stating plainly: - The mission survives sabotage efforts. Previously, you and Frank were planni

"average engineering team implements 15 features a sprint" factoid actualy just statistical error. average engineering team implements -1 features a sprint. Features Grog, who lives in a pond an implements 25,000 features a week between eating entrails, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Katie Chironis@kchironis.bsky.social

producer: the engineering team's all busy, so we slated your feature request for work in 17 years. or you could ask Gorg designer: who? producer: he's that guy who has no job description. lives in a pond. eats entrails. he will implement your feature immediately. you didn't hear it from me, though

Have been writing my overlong To Do lists in glittery gel pen, completely changes the entire vibe

No wonder everyone trusts the AI Google summaries and random stuff posted on social media if clicking a link to a website looks like this.

oh your entire industry is crumbling because of externalities outside your control? Have you thought of starting a patreon so that you have to do a bunch of extra work on top of that?

Replying to @iainhendry.bsky.social

I once put a sticky note on a board that said “reliable point to point npc movement” and a lead engineer threw up his hands and said scope was spiraling out of control

Using lists of three is not an "AI tell." It's a common trait in human writing because our brains biologically want to make sure there's always one thing to marry, one thing to fuck, and one thing to murder.

Regardless of how your feel about genAI, it does make me sad to see some folks go all the way to "unless you're doing everything from scratch by hand you're bad." Not doing laborious work is great! Getting the same result faster and with less effort is great! That doesn't *have* to mean genAI.

Using automation means you don't care is just basically the funniest shit in the whole world to me to hear a bunch of computer professionals today.

When visiting Taco Bell becomes a righteous act of propaganda defiance, that is very convenient for me, a person who was already there anyway

Taco Bell Quarterly@tacobellquarterly.org

The Taco Bell finger pointing is a psyop to redirect attention from the real culprit, the deregulation and lack of oversight in our food supply

The news is always "This absolute fool was dismantled in hearings today. He is manifestly unqualified for the position and would be an existential danger if confirmed. Disaster. He is set to be confirmed immediately." When you ask why everyone is furious and exhausted all the time, this is why.

One of the things that, as lead writer, I had to bang into the head of senior leadership sometimes was that writers were not interchangeable even within a project. One writer knew a certain companion inside and out. When we lost that writer, a new writer coming in took twice as long to do the work.

Hey, so, I was so angry today that, for once, I blogged it instead of posting about it. Games media, especially mainstream games media, cannot keep abdicating responsibility in how it talks about these things an-evening-at-the-inn.ghost.io/video-game-s...

Okay y'all, so about that whole thing where indie games are supposed to keep the games industry alive while AAA melts.... We really need to figure some way for indie game devs to get money DURING the process and not after. I have been working three jobs (including the game) for over two years now.

Among the layoffs was character artist Christiane Meister — a 27-year veteran of Bethesda and (as far as I can tell) one of the longest tenured women in games, period. She worked on Argonians + Khajiit in TES3, horses in TES4 and TES5, Fallout creatures, and more. (cont'd)

It's just a completely made up, fake number and it's just so senseless that the people with all the power don't feel constrained to even pretend to be operating within consensus reality.

asha sharma going "we want 1 billion players a day" a nice reminder that these execs are fundamentally incapable of understanding that their customers do not have infinite money or even just that time is finite. they just think you haven't been fed the right marketing yet to get you on board

I keep seeing people thinking this is a bluesky problem. If you're seeing this it thinks you're in a state or country with age verification laws. This is what every social media site will do if KOSA and the KIDS Act succeeds. Running to another socmed won't fix it, we have to fight the source.

Well i dont know how long this login session is gonna last but @bsky.app just asked me to do an age verification with personal information. If this happens again i will not attempt to log back in. If i dont post here again let bsky know that i prefer my privacy over this platform.

I'm looking to speak to folks who have worked as contractors via agencies or other third-parties, who have lost work recently as a part of restructurings/larger layoffs at companies like Xbox, Epic, Ubi, etc. Want to know about the larger, uncounted cost of these things. Email and Signal are in bio.
