🪐 spaces alpha release 🪐 folks, this is the big one! lots of updates across pretty core protocol mechanisms. hopefully the last/only of it's kind (tho we are planning another release next Thurs)

discourse.atmosphere.communityAtproto spaces alpha updatesWe just cut another spaces alpha release today! This is the biggest yet, there are multiple breaking changes across core protocol pieces. This is likely the last/only release of this size. Though we ...

t3code, with orchestrator v2 finally merged, is like if codex had opencodex built-in which is awesome & should be your main harness if you want a batteries-included one with 0 effort but if you want to customize it and make it your own then bb is an excellent alternative

dsh seems promising but it still looks early and the bb DX is soooo much better for now; tho that can be fixed so i guess t3code wins short/mid-term but if it doesnt get a plugin system in the future then i'd bet on bb/dsh/opencode v2 (havent tried that one yet!) long-term

people should really stop using TUIs as harnesses; it makes no sense the DX is horrible you can't even see what you paste; trying to read content in there is a nightmare.. why are you inflicting that yourself that said pi extensibility is really awesome

What if, for a year, we as atproto community focus on improving a major community lexicon every month We improve the hell out of it (if needed) and then integrate into existing apps where it makes sense and help each other to do so

Let’s start with something basic like getting diagnostics. Not too much to say about this. Each API call like this is communicating over STDIO with the tsgo process. We'll see some details in a minute.

finally trying t3code; it makes cursor usable im not stuck in a TUI anymore and my RAM is back! thats nice tho: - i dislike the font and cant change it - dark mode is overall too dark; making it harder to read than codex - cant search in settings? why - cant see the usage left

- there's no queue; only steer? why - sometimes its clear whats happening; sometimes its just "Working for 9m 18s" and i just gotta wait i guess just using it for a few hours; will see if i notice more stuff that i miss from codex 🙏 @t3.gg

i accidentally made the best openapi client generator (again) and now it supports any TS schema validation lib, has an Effect based client, has a first-class Tanstack Query adapter, allows filtering to only some endpoints.. without plugins, just a few flags

it supports fast inference (even on huge openapi files) with full discoverability (everything is just an autocomplete away) using types generation instead of relying on the schema validation library direct inference; tho you can still import the generated schemas

Daniel's permissioned data proposal just dropped!! This will be a major upgrade for atproto that enables private groups & communities. Really hope this technical design resonates with people so we can keep moving fast, but please do get your comments in

The Atmosphere is a new open network of apps and services that all work together. It's like truly owning your Google Account. Instead of every app being its own walled garden, Atmosphere apps share a common foundation, so you only need one account to use them all, and they can easily share data.

this is huge (if implemented). as i understand it, this is a protocol extending atproto that lets you declare member-only spaces (e.g. forums, groups, or something more exotic) holding data that different apps can read and write. so — like atproto, but with access control

We migrated an Astro site from React and Ark UI to native Web Components. This resulted in 100 KB less JavaScript and no functionality lost. In the process, we built a tiny library called nanotags that makes Custom Elements enjoyable to write. Here's how we did it:

I am so, so tired of reading LLM-generated or LLM-assisted articles. Just say what you want to say, in your _own_ voice. It’s *always* better.

We made a pretty cool thing at graze over the past few weeks With the news about fable the ability to run these models ourselves increased If co/core we can own it all as a community! Tell us what you think!

Well this is massive: - Every non-US company sees how they can be cut off from US vendors with a snap of a finger. Non-US vendors getting free advertisement - What does this mean for US AI labs’ offices and employees outside the US? Reads pretty draconian What a mess

I feel like that's the biggest issue in our industry and AI has just multiplied that tenfold. Software that improves people's lives is created with care. I feel like we're teaching a generation of developers that it's totally normal for stuff to be broken all the time. Not sure how to solve this.

patak@patak.cat

Almost 20 days after launch, the new npmjs dark mode is still utterly broken. I celebrated when they released it. It's great to see npm working on new features. The web needs MS to invest in the registry. But this isn't the way. They should remove dark mode until they have the time to do it right.

gpt 5.4 is so far the only one that makes vibecoding actually work; you can wish apps/features into existence in a few prompts (tho you most likely dont want to look too closely at the code)

the thing that upsets me here is that i'd much rather read what you actually wrote or want to say in your own words but you obscure that by wrapping your thoughts and feelings into the blandest copypasta imaginable. i want you to be more confident in your words, they're better than this robot vomit

i'm continually mystified why otherwise smart people keep publishing llm-assisted essays. the bla IS the bla; it's not foo, it's bar. look this shit just sucks to read, pls stop this

Electrobun is a new cross-platform runtime for shipping desktop apps ✨ Electron mostly uses C++ to embed both Node.js & Chromium. Electrobun uses Zig to to embed Bun and - like Tauri - relies on the OS default web renderer. 🔷 Write apps in TypeScript 🧱 Process isolation ⚖️ 12MB base install size

YoavCodes@yoav.codes

It's here. Electrobun is ready for you. npx electrobun init blackboard.sh/blog/electro...

technically it's been ready for mainstream adoption for a while now, since those were out and mostly stable: - tanstack (query / router / start / form) - ark-ui (ui lib) - shadcn distribution (copy/paste/dl from registries and adapt) so whats missing?

dax@thdxr.com

saw a question asking if solid-js is still relevant frontend talk has been mostly replaced by ai talk but it's quietly grown 6x in a year in opencode - tui in solid - tauri in solid - web app in solid-start - enterprise app in solid

Stoked for this preview/beta release of a new typescript SDK. It's baked entirely around bringing your own lexicons, and includes a CLI for fetching them from the network and generating code. The DX is also so much better, and it includes tools like tree-shaking.

Hey y'all, we just released a new SDK for working with Lexicons in TypeScript! 🥳 It focuses on improving DX and some of the pain points of the current tooling (see my previous post below). It's currently in beta and we'd love to get your feedback 🙇‍♂️ www.npmjs.com/package/@atp...
