DISCMASTER just added support for screencam files. What are screencam files? Super old video files that means we now get 1997 reviews of websites.

it appears that i have about 1.5 months left of being twenty nine. after careful deliberation, i have decided i am not going to turn thirty. instead, i am going to turn twenty ten.

Working on a swanshell (nileswan cart menu) update to celebrate the upcoming Friday batch - got any feature requests? One that has already made it in is an option to automatically open the last launched directory on console startup.

it is unfortunate that according to aliexpress, humans only come in the following three sizes

re: what is the earliest game that let's you be non-binary, someone responded with this: "wizap ankoku no ou" on SNES, a game that lets you literally pick your gender on a spectrum. unassailably cool!

Gnoll Girl X@gnollq.itch.io

Huh didn't load up the game myself but hot damn you are correct. Still later than Ultima III: Exodus (1983 vs 1994) still cool though.

Finished "Goodbye Lara". Thinking about it now. Though I do think I liked that ending a lot.

NitrousTracker 0.7.0 beta 5 is out, fixing a few UI/UX issues that have been reported. Download at codeberg.org/NitrousTrack... I am aware that the pace of development feels really slow compared to the modern day zeitgeist... We're blocked on one of the key devs having a case of Real Life.

Replying to @errant-signal.com

I call these platforms "Big Bucket" social media and I think it's an inherently flawed model that creates an antisocial and neurotic site culture.

there's a reason why I will regularly in conversation refer to bluesky as twitter. cause it's just twitter from before Musk bought the website

headfallsoff@headfallsoff.com

moving over to bluesky from twitter was huge for my mental health because twitter sucked so bad but over the years bluesky has now become pretty much just as bad because well it is also literally just twitter. we did build the demon again to be fair

I just saw a Steam review of a VN including the amazing phrase: "I felt like I was actually experiencing the emotions"

I'm writing a mod in C# and it's reporting a warning on line 3 of a file but the warning is blank for some reason so the "problems" overview just looks like this

*inhales gas leak* is there a way to receive counseling from the halimede account specifically. i'm not sure if there exist therapists who could see through me as well as that woman does

inspiring: newcomer's first task is to fix a fired worker's vibecoded mess in a way vibecoding has just created a job. in a roundabout way.

bah. they're hosting some inhouse LLM models. but at least they do not tolerate vibecoding (un-checked pure AI code PRs) there is no corporation that won't utilize AI in some way nowadays but it's nice to see at least some restraint

it's simple: everyone on earth should make at least one game in bitsy, twine, puzzlescript, zzt, rpgmaker 2k/3, and pico-8. all of them have robust tooling, smart creative constraints, browser exports, and lively communities.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

If you peek behind the curtain of basically any niche hobbyist community involved with technology you'll find this same story everywhere. imo it reflects a cultural obsessions with output and ignoring what was actually enriching about these projects: community and skills-building.

With Epic Games in the news for dumb reasons yet again, I figure now is a good time to evangelize the good word of ZZT. Tim already made a tool that "democratizes" gamedev to the point that anybody could do it, and 35 years later it still has a healthy community of creators free from AI's blight.

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me
