I very much enjoyed this conversation. Nathan asked extremely insightful questions in a conversation that starts with the good times (five or six years ago) and explores what the heck happened to put the industry where it is today.

6500 is a also a huge, huge deal, and something we'll hopefully get to soon. we've hit the limits pretty much on what we can do or learn ourselves, there's some important growth and business stuff that we'd absolutely love to get professional help with

I've managed to get gigs outside of gaming journalism but I'm only surviving because I'm in the middle of nowhere, while new job openings almost universally want on-site in New York or LA. The dream is all but dead and it both breaks my heart and terrifies me, but mostly I'm just angry these days.

Check this out if you want to read a bunch of ex-journalists' thoughts on the current (gestures to the smoking crater) state of things, and also me being very very nostalgic about the games magazine era

"Why don't you go to the bathroom in more survival games?" is a joke that came up during our podcast over the summer. I reached out to developers about it, and their answers were complicated and fascinating, from spiraling design issues to the deeper meaning behind where to put the toilet

Great piece on a bleak trend. Really ridiculous how anyone could look at the problems with games media right now and still blame it on the workers being “dumb hacks” or whatever

There's simply no excuse for this. Sucker Punch has delivered two back-to-back acclaimed and high selling games. This team should be safe and celebrated. and yet this industry continues to be fucking demonic.

Some updates to previous pieces. I did end up swapping the trackball of the keychron out for a compatible steel ball bearing. Much better! Still need to find a good compatible lubricant that won’t mess up the electronics though.

Chris Person@papapishu.bsky.social

A while back Keychron announced a bizarre trackball with Gizmodo Japan called the Nape Pro, but it never seemed to materialize in the west. Recently, it went up on Amazon. It's not perfect or precise, but it's one of the oddest devices I've used. For @aftermath.site: aftermath.site/keychron-nap...
