Just had both parents telling me about this breaking news…. Severely tempted to add Facebook’s domains into the piHole blocklist

It is truly astonishing to me the speed at which people believe clear fake news without doing even the tiniest bit of research. 2 separate people today have asked me about the 'Jamie Oliver proves McDonalds isn't fit for humans in court' - a court case that never happened and is made up on facebook

"oh but we grew up with the impacts of the war. So we're part of that generation really." Sure Jan. And I grew up with the impacts of Thatcherism. You don't see me claiming I'm a sriking coal miner though.

Normal person: hey Tonia your desire to protect your mum from seeing a trans person is not dissimilar to people not wanting to see black or Asian people on their wards Antoniazzi: that doesn’t happen either and you’re racist because I can’t read

About 2 minutes after winning an apprentice drinking competition back in the day, I did just this - 3 perfect pints of puke 🤮 no spillage.

I think we need to validate this theory by progressively taking out additional Russian internet infrastructure.

Y’all, I hate to rain on the dead bot parade, but the Yandex data center destruction doesn’t seem to have significantly impacted social media bots. I made temporal graphs of X posts about AfD around the time of the attack and there’s no sign of a sudden dip or residual impact on that conversation.

Very late to this. Very difficult to choose just 9 (when some, hardly obscure albums, don’t even show up in search!)

Just enjoying threads of people declaring the new income tax declaration approach for HMRC is taxing small business on money they haven’t earned yet And asking “How much income did you declare last year? Oh that’s right. You lied. This is the HMRCs response to everyone lying.”

In the UK, Prince William has launched an anti-suicide campaign with the Premier League, whose every other ad is for gambling. Hey prince: how about you dust off some old dungeons & fill them with every gambling CEO & the celebs who endorse them & watch suicides plummet? EASY PEASY MATE

ngl "2 doggers, a lad out on the rob for diesel, a fly tipper and an actual terrorist get swept up into an international incident" would be a really funny premise for a slice of life British comedy

I was bingeing this yesterday - I’m up to 42 up - 2 years before they we’re originally due to be the “shop stewards and executives of the year 2000” Some show real self-awareness and others, none…

Great documentaries, like life, happen while the director is busy making other plans. I’ve written a little bit about Up in the FT Weekend:

Look, you have to understand Bibi: it really deeply upsets and frightens him that a Muslim reached the age of 34.

Netanyahu directly attacks Zohran Mamdani (and his wife) from the UNGA podium, calling him the "antisemitic mayor of New York City," parroting The Free Press's stories about Rama Duwaji, tying Mamdani to Hasan Piker, and claiming the mayor is "buddies" with Hamas.

It seems like the police are assuming the far-right losers are 'looking for an excuse' to do more damage and so must be given maximum space. In fact, they are turning a big dial that says 'thuggery' on it and constantly looking over at the state for the slightest sign of consequences.

No, arresting ‘Danny Tommo’ won’t make him a martyr. *Not* arresting him will fuel his agenda.

1/23 Sorry, this will be long... There is a lot of shouting about what happened in the Channel yesterday. So I want to go back to basic law. Not immigration policies or political rhetoric. At sea, the starting point is simple: Preservation of life comes first under all maritime conventions.

Emma Yeomans@yeomans.bsky.social

Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Industry has fed waste heat into district heating for decades: steelworks, refineries, incinerators and so on. Using that heat never meant endorsing the source but not wasting energy. Data centres are the same.

Oh no, what’s Crafty Wank been up to? 🫣

Reform Watch@reformwatch.org

Three more councillors have left Reform at Durham County Council, pushing the number of departures since the party seized control last year to 16. Allegations of bullying, ignored safeguarding concerns and contempt for mental health now surround the administration.

@bggyoneandonly.eurosky.social Freepost Licences don’t work like that You’ll spend £5 and it won’t cost Reform a penny bsky.app/profile/ab-i...

Andy@ab-initio.me.uk

It generally won’t work because freepost licence requires a pre-printed envelope that includes a machine readable barcode (you are correct it changed in 2015) If the code is wrong (or missing) the item will be rejected at sorting = no delivery = no charge to Reform
