as always when this is posted, i have to fondly remember the time someone stole this tweet word for word, including using my name as the punchline, then claimed it was just independent discovery

"Look, 'Phil Jamesson' is just an objectively funny name. Your parents figured it out and so did I."

I’m also reminded that Jonathan Katz had a very similar joke over 30 years ago… “I think my wife might be having an affair… my parrot keeps saying ‘Give it to me long and hard like my husband Jon Katz.’ “ So, there’s a lot of borrowing in comedy.

no i wish. if i remember correctly they did one reply that was something like "i came up with this independently" and then blocked everybody who was laughing at them i actually did just remember though, they edited it specifically to "fix" the grammar. so it wasn't just a thoughtless copy-paste

If they actually went through and edited the text then I can only imagine they didn't bother to look at your username very carefully and assumed it was just a generic name you made up for the joke

if they capitalized Phil Jamesson in their version I think that not only is the post theirs now but they’re technically also Phil Jamesson

It reminds me of when Glee used Jonathan Coulton's acoustic guitar version of Baby Got Back and denied it, not realizing that his version changes the line "Mix-a-lot's in trouble" to "Johnny C's in trouble". It should be noted that no one on Glee could plausibly be referred to as "Johnny C".

Now I’m thinking of the time a tween was caught using Neutral Milk Hotel songs as their own poetry which lasted until the first person over the age of 12 replied how they’re just copy+pasting the lyrics to ‘In the Aeroplane Over the Sea’
