It really is disappointing to see an expensive, multi-day, live workshop covering 'ethical uses of AI in user-experience research/analysis/design' feature genAI illustrations as a promotion. And not even good ones, but shit where everyone has 3-4 fingers and body parts that merge into one another.

I hate to admit it, but there are uses of AI when planning for the scope of a user experience or performing rapid prototyping/testing. I don't like it, but it's true. However you can't be all, 'we want the designer to remain *the designer*' and then put the dumbest genAI illustrations as a promo.

I am proud of Boltgun II understanding the assignment: if you’re doing a Khorne level it deserves comedically-large mountains of skulls, engines fueled by blood and traps that kills both you *and* Chaos-aligned troops as well.

【お仕事】 ‘X-MEN '92: INCURSIONS’ #1 のバリアントカバーを書きました。アニメのX-Men ’92とX-Men: Evolutionのローグ達です。来年1月に発売になります

For some reason my phone number seems to be the foundation for a ton of accidental texts involving congratulations on weddings, birthdays, holidays and child births. I'm happy that modern text messaging allows emojis because I can reply to them in a way that people don't think a message got lost.

I got a brain fart and forgot my MacBook Pro login. I then did the runaround to enter Terminal and reset my password. I have zero idea how this made my computer run so much smoother. I have zero lag when opening applications up and the overall speed boost is noticeable. The fuck did I do?

I love that my mom is awesome and super open-minded to new ideas. I can't imagine a scenario my sister and I would ever go no-contact with her. With how terrible everything is all over the place for everyone, it's nice to have one aspect of my life be rock solid.

This is a quietly metastasizing moral panic

I'm seeing a lot of folks (rightfully) shitting on the people in this article for their efforts to remove *all* property taxes in Ohio, but I want to give some further insight into things here. My mom, who is 62 and a widow of 12 years, is currently seeing a beyond massive property tax increase —

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Anyway, what this comes down to is the fact we can't get rid of property taxes here in Ohio (that would be dumb), but the current structure of funding so much through it (and pissing away billions on religious/charter school vouchers) makes life unaffordable for many seniors on set, fixed-incomes.

One more thing, my family is lucky that we can help my mom with this increase. I'm emotionally incapable of forming relationships with others so no wife/kids on my end and my sister/BIL (who travel for their fancy jobs multiple days a week) pay my mom for helping watch their three kids all the time.

So does my mom promote removing all property taxes? Absolutely not. She thinks anyone who wants to do this is dumb. Still, the sudden, sharp increase in them is pushing her financially in ways she can't easily manage. I believe I'll be chipping in to pay her now $9k in property taxes. —

The property tax issue here in Ohio is a problem that was a long-time coming. It's been heavily documented how our State's approach would explode in legislatures' faces for years now and no one wanted to make changes leading up to it. We're in a situation where many seniors simply can't afford it. —

She's been extremely diligent about living within her means and we're lucky to be smart with investments. Still, we can only realistically plan for traditional increases in cost of living and the recent Ohio property tax update is so extensive that it has thrown a lot of normal logic out the door. —

Unfortunately, due to Ohio's goofy tax structure regarding what services are afforded by different types of taxing, our public schools rely nearly entirely on property taxes. This isn't helped by the state taking public school funding and moving it to private schools for the past 10+ years. —

While my family grew up in a solid, upper-middle class environment, my mom was a homemaker who relied on my dad's income to support all. We were super fortunate enough to have a single-income family but after his death my mom essentially needed to live on his life insurance policy for 40+ years. —

WASHINGTON (AP) — Trump, after bipartisan backlash, says Pentagon won't livestream firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter.

Finally done with the Space Marine Judiciar model. First time tackling a leather coat and glass on a model, but it was a fun challenge. He luckily makes a fine friend for my Chaplain. Seven more to go in this kit 🫠 #warhammercommunity #warhammer40k

Jesus, I have gone down the gunpla rabbit hole. I am now buying $50 worth of new tools because apparently you need to gently treat the kit’s plastics like a sickly Victorian child. Compare that to Warhammer where half the time one is hacking away at the plastic to kitbash.

I haven’t done Gunpla in over 20 years, but I’ve always loved the v Gundam as it’s the perfect balance between realistic and super robot. I think it’s time I dove back in.

Holy shit, Knights of Guinevere episode 2 was dark. A perfect blend of mature subjects that smartly knows when to drop comedic moments. Also that gorgeous animation budget increase. I feel like this show is going to find a bunch of Disney animated series VA’s pop up.

It’s really disappointing how many of the great, older graphic/web design news sites have turned into AI-shilling blogs. What used to be in-depth industry articles detailing the science behind how design works are now 4 paragraph posts recommending YouTube videos of vibe-design over attending school

This is definitely not a list of my favorite albums or bands, but rather music that made me realize there was a world outside of standard Top 40 radio.

Frankly, the vast majority of my music now is power-pop, traditional indie rock (which, yeah, isn't all that indie any more, but you know what I mean), and yacht rock.

Happy #orktober. Going to jump back into Orks once I wrap up an Ultramarine Judiciar model. I stripped some of my earliest minis from 4 years ago and looking to recreate them with my vastly-improved skills. Here’s my last few boys from this summer.

what do you MEAN the developers of Cookie's Bustle contacted every person who registered their copy by mail 25 years ago and invited them to a secret Cookie's Bustle party with live music and merch???

‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ for me. Mind you I was also 4 years-old in 1992 when it aired on Showtime, but it freaked me out. I’ve now seen it a dozen times because it’s a horror-comedy extravaganza.

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

Honestly, the older I get the more annoyed I become with people hating on the interests and tastes of others simply because they're popular. Look, I still love my indie music hipster cred, but at this point I'm content to simply let people enjoy what they want without criticism.
