I was surprised at how large Trump’s base of hate turned out to be, not the -10% I had assumed in the past. But I’m much less surprised that so many people are fiercely supportive of their immigrant friends and neighbors. That’s really what this country is all about.

My guess is this is in part due to their obsession with land voting. If you look at the electoral map of MN, it's pretty red. Too bad the Twins Cities metro absolutely dwarfs the rest of the state in terms of population and it's people that vote.

I'll be homest, I didn't know we had a high Somali population. I grew up around a bunch of Hmong folk instead; Since they also moved to MN to escape conflict. I knew some folk thought taking on refugees was a concern. But to kids, they were just neighbors. We all shared good times and bad.

Sadly that’s not it. They were HOPING the good people of Minnesota would come out to protect their community so the Feds could brutally oppress them and bring in the military and use it to call up the insurrection act. Everything has been planned out and it’s all happened before in history. Sorry

I absolutely love the city of Minneapolis. The vibe of the city has always felt welcoming to me. I'm a lifelong Prince fan and didn't visit MPLS until after he passed. However, after visiting several times, I am not surprised by the people in that city responding to ICE the way they have.
