Trump never pays. Ever. The only people who get paid are those who insist on cash upfront, in advance. Surely they aren't still surprised Trump is a shameless liar, grifter, and remittance lizar.

This is among the many reasons I'm so against these "Abundance Agenda" regulatory streamlining bills. They all allow random exceptions to the environmental regulations that are sometimes the only authority holding back the construction of data centers powered in whatever way the techbros want...

Zeke Hausfather@zekehausfather.com

In the rush to build data centers, companies are starting to use their own off grid gas generators. This results in much higher emissions – 60% to 80% – compared with using their local electricity grid and risks locking in longer-term fossil dependence. www.theclimatebrink....

"How Judge Reyes Became the Lorax" is one of my favorite headlines of 2026! The NYT would never publish anything so acute!

somehow, the niche golf course case I became obsessed with last winter developed into a national news story! here's my opus on how that happened, for @lawfaremedia.org: www.lawfaremedia.org/article/how-...

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

We could waste $5 trillion repairing the old grid, but why? Renewables, properly applied, can provide homes with more than enough power. The only reason we need fossil fuel based power is to satisfy industry. So why not make industry supply its own power & stop asking the public to subsidize them ?

#Arizona could end up relying more on natural gas as data centers demand more energy www.kjzz.org/business/202... #Datacenters made up half of the growth in energy demand for APS this year.

I mean, Heaven Forefend they retain their judicial independence, like John Roberts or Aileen Cannon!

a federal judge sanctioned the lawyers who tried to help Trump create a $1.776 billion slush fund so obviously House Republicans are now targeting the judge, saying *she's the one who committed professional misconduct ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

We have to stop this cycle, and there's no time like the present to do it! As soon as the midterms are over, I'm switching to an all -- "No AI Bailout for the Bros!" plan. No free community water for them, no billing us for their egregious electricity bills, and NO PERMITTING REFORM!

Eddie@whalepsychiatrist.bsky.social

Exactly, when they privatise things we need to survive like water, energy they know they can suck out as much as they can, even get billions in debt, then when it goes under we pick up the tab to get it going again for them to sell it off again, rinse repeat.

It is a dark stain on American voters and the Republican Party that despite a range of criminal convictions, plus successful civil actions for rape - let alone the Jan 6th insurrection he encourages that the Republican Party allows him to stand for a second term & American voters elected him.

Former Miss Switzerland Accuses Trump of Rape. Now you get why Trump has to support the vile Vivek ad calling Amy Acton a liar about being raped as a child. Trump is always protecting himself so he smears all rape victims as liars. www.mediaite.com/media/news/f...

A good summary of the House Judiciary Dems' 50-p report on Trump's history as a violent sexual predator, including a well vetted, under-oath account from Beatrice Keul of how Trump raped her in an Atlantic City hotel room in 1993, after the pair were introduced to one another by Jeffrey Epstein.

Oh, please, how can we re-publicize this before Election Day? Get some screenshots and set them up on annunciator trucks, with the header: "When you vote for Mike Rogers, you vote to protect Elon Musk from responsibility for his DOGE cuts! <image of Elon holding the giant chainsaw like a penis.>

Who do I give to to get this in front of as many Michigan voters as possible?

I LOVE JAMELLE'S PLAN! Tax 'em, make 'em fill out a bunch of tedious forms, make 'em divide every deposit or transaction into no more than $9,990, make 'em sit through boring meetings with bank committees and FinSec, and ensure that at least half the time, the execs have to go, not just the lawyers!

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

Thanks, Elon! If you want to stay out of jail, but don't want to have to spend 100s of millions of $$ every election cycle supporting brain-dead Republicans, have you considered the possibilies that adhering to the law offers? Not Breaking the Law™ could be just the money-saver you're looking for!

It's just an ultra-modern version of La Boheme! Elon Musk has spent more money on American elections in the last two years than George Soros has in his entire life.

Here's the post. It contains a link to a local news story covering the events where Texans' votes were changed before their eyes by an electronic voting machine. Now what are YOU going to do, Mr. Long, about this election interference? I know what I'm doing!

A Texas in-person voter experienced a problem with a touchscreen voting machine. She selected a candidate, but the machine switched her selection to another candidate. She then pressed her desired candidate FIRMLY with her finger to make the machine work properly. #USDemocracy #MomSky #Texas #TX

Thank you. Will attend to this! Blessings on you all!

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

These are shitty laws that need to be delayed, at least until after the "AI" bubble pops!

Kevin J. Kircher@kevinjkircher.com

I think this interpretation is right, yes. BAAJA would codify Trump EPA letters of exemption (e.g. "You're allowed to hook up this inefficient polluting turbine or generator and run it as much as you want, irrespective of health impacts to nearby communities") as permits and block future EPAs from

YES! This is the awful secret behind "permitting" reform bills. In states including Texas, Utah, & New Mexico, only the actions of state officials, using the same permitting laws that would be suspended, is stopping the construction of data centers that will use 1/2 a Colorado River's worth of water

KetAnthropic JoshAI@ketanjoshi.co

Am I right in thinking this means BAAJA helps stop regulation of off-grid fossil gas power plants for data centres? Also I didn't know there was an off-grid gas turbine lobby and it's called COMET (you know, like the comet metaphor destroying Earth often used for climate) lnkd.in/p/ea8Xw4kQ

We took the kids to ocean city, and on the boardwalk is a place called Thrashers. They sell huge buckets heaped over with French fries, and then they just send you out to gull town with that great lidless thing. You’ve gotta assume a certain gull tax there.
