An excellent article that historicizes Post-Rock as a term and then gives you a program of albums to go listen to, most of which I know, a couple I need to get hold of and one Labradford LP I need to put on right now

Joseph Weizenbaum's 1976 book, Computer Power and Human Reason, has long been out of print - used copies sell for hundreds of dollars. It's wild that this is not more widely available given how much his ideas still apply to the world we're in now. 🧵/

Not sure how big one consider Phoenix in 2009 just after releasing WAM but before it really blew up. They played the Bluebird Theater in Denver on the day Michael Jackson died. The venue got to playing MJ tunes after the show and a bunch of us stuck around to dance and the band eventually joined us.

Question time, friends: What musical artist(s) were you lucky enough to catch at a small venue before they broke big?

Godspeed You! Black Emperor and LOW at Club Downunder (capacity 350, crowd nowhere near that) in Tallahassee. Stage so small GY!BE didn’t even fit on it.

I begrudgingly tolerate Chuck Klosterman whenever he’s on the Simmons pod, but I’m ready to throw my phone out the window with this latest appearance

Gov. Polis & state officials are weighing whether to comply with a new ICE subpoena as he also tries to end a lawsuit that stopped him from complying with a similar request + as he implements a policy blocking subpoena discussions from ever being released: www.denverpost.com/2026/04/02/j...

One of my proudest moments as music director at my college radio station around the time one of The Green Album/Maladroit was released was getting yelled at by the guy from Interscope for refusing to add it to our rotation.

Every few years there's a "weezer is back, in pog form, I know the last 8 albums were bad, but you really have to listen to this one!" discourse. The last time I gave in, the only thing I felt was relief that I don't need to listen to it again, and the idea that it is safe to skip them going forward
