We celebrate Eva Marie Saint, who died today at 102. A #SagAftraMember since 1947, Saint won an Oscar for her film debut in 'On the Waterfront' and starred in 'North by Northwest.' An advocate for organized labor, she leaves an enduring example for generations of union members.

Saw her give a talk after a screening of NORTH BY NORTHWEST in the 2010s. So delightful, especially when calling out Ben Mankiewicz for some lengthy interview questions. RIP to a screen legend. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

In spite of being of the correct generation to have grown up while "Peanuts" was still in active publication, it's always a little surreal to be reminded that the most popular comic strip in the English-speaking world for fifty solid years was about an eight-year-old with clinical depression.

With regard to the overt and jaw-dropping use of public money to manufacture and broadcast Trump politicals ads, I'm just spitballing here, but maybe, perhaps, if the U.S. Supreme Court didn't give the president blanket immunity from prosecution for crimes he wouldn't feel so comfortable criming.

But the show I want to single out—the one on my personal 10-shows ballot that did not make the list at all—is this beautiful, and apparently now largely forgotten, creation. Do yourself a favor and seek it out. (86 Ted Lasso to make room for it.) www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/a...

Netanyahu directly attacks Zohran Mamdani (and his wife) from the UNGA podium, calling him the "antisemitic mayor of New York City," parroting The Free Press's stories about Rama Duwaji, tying Mamdani to Hasan Piker, and claiming the mayor is "buddies" with Hamas.

RIP Patricio Guzman, brilliant Chilean filmmaker. Today I rewatched Nostalgia for the Light, his poetic documentary of exploration and destruction, life and death, earth and sky. (And yes I choked up yet again.) www.nytimes.com/2026/09/21/m...

By the time this merger ruins HBO, destroys WB, gets 5,000 people fired, moves production overseas, and guts the quality of the movies the new studio makes, most people will have forgotten how fast the AGs caved and how little they got in this deal. Writers will not.

I just honestly can't get over that Save Women Sports, an anti-trans group could only find five trans athletes competing K through 12. Five. The NCAA president testified a year and a half ago or so that there were less than 10 college level trans athletes. What the fuck are we doing, people

I loved eating Chik-Fil-A. Can't remember the last time I ate there. I used to go to Hobby Lobby weekly. Haven't walked into one in over a decade. I enjoyed Harry Potter, past tense. My life is not wanting of joy without these things the way it would be without all my LGBTQIA+ friends. Choose love.

Ruby Bridges was 6-years-old when she stepped into the history books. Bravely accompanied by her mother, she was the first Black child to desegregate an all-white school in the South. It was not long ago… Today is her birthday. She is still with us. She is 72. Happy birthday, Ruby Bridges 💜

I want to say that I wish she hadn't died while so much of what she fought for is under attack, but the things she fought for were never NOT under attack and she understood better than most that the fight never stops. What a legend.
