we're popping out miracle drugs that address like basically every human ailment other than the inevitability of death, we're turbodeploying unlimited free energy from god, and the computers can do our homework, so obviously we are [checking notes] in the worst of all possible timelines. what a world

Yes! I want this straight into my veins!

What would happen if you replaced the 4/5/6 Lexington Avenue Line with enough roadway to compensate? I spent a couple days filming in NYC and pondering the question nebula.tv/videos/cityn...

I've said this before, but part of why I continue to be bleak on prospects of prompt war termination are because Iran has *very strong incentives* to continue pain infliction (against the US/Israel/GCC and the broader world) to deter a future war by credibly communicating the magnitude of costs.

Incredible scenes here, it looks like the US is effectively suing for peace and Iran is saying "no thanks" while Israel is most concerned that the US might actually succeed. www.axios.com/2026/03/24/i...

I keep seeing people ask about the 25th Amendment. Guys. His entire Cabinet is walking around in shoes that don’t fit because they’re scared to take them off. The 25th is never happening.

This is true in rougly the same sense that a guy on the subway reeking of urine, screaming, and waving a knife around is “feared.”

DAIR even develops a lot of those types of tools to study social media harms. The lumping of so many things under the "AI" umbrella makes discourse about the specific things that are harmful vs useful difficult.

Homes being considered investment vehicles is a massive, underappreciated problem. You have a house because you need a house. It doesn't need to pad your networth.

It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

Almost every “successful” AI use case involves knocking the first rungs out of a career ladder, but those are the very positions our students desperately need to become acculturated into the professional spaces that will eventually require experienced professionals to replace the current cohort.

If you want to add my book on Goodreads, it's here: www.goodreads.com/book/show/19... But in all seriousness: Vance's comments + Rubio's announcement about revoking the visas of Chinese students => history repeating itself. Qian was deported after wrongly accused of being a spy by the USG.

Joe Uchill@joeuchill.bsky.social

So, fun fact. I just sort of assumed based on my day to day life that people were unaware of Qian Xuesen. Searching Bluesky, tons of threads. Not only are all of you aware of him, but two of you have books coming out that involve him - including a biography from @celestepewter.bsky.social

A lot of people know about the Germans in the space program, but the more relevant engineer might be Qian Xuesen, the MIT/CalTech aerospace professor who co-founded JPL and was sent to recruit the Germans. We deported him the 1950s. He became the leader of China’s missile program.

Golombok has even found that parents in nonconventional family structures tend to be more involved than straight, married parents on average, probably because they are more likely to have deliberately chosen parenthood.

If the Trump administration wants America to have more babies, it’s going to have to start defining “family” a lot differently, Faith Hill writes: https://theatln.tc/3NVufPJu

LLMs are an Excel sheet where every field is a date.

CJ Fogler@cjzero.bsky.social

Honestly my favorite part about people who defend AI inaccuracy and hallucination is thinking that something like 15% is acceptable. Imagine if Excel calculated formulas incorrectly 15% of the time but you didn’t know which ones were wrong

While saying "this is incredible" over and over, Musk's GSA head Stephen Ehikian asked GSAi to "write me a website." The output was not compliant with federal law. It said "Welcome to Our Company" on it and did not resemble a federal website at all. 😟 This garbage demo had a terrified audience

They're placing probationary employees on paid administrative leave and giving them back pay. Basically, taxpayers are paying for a bunch of federal employees to do nothing for a month and counting. I don't have an MBA so maybe someone can explain to me how this improves efficiency.

This is insane. Arguably the greatest achievement of the first Trump administration was Operation Warp Speed. And mRNA technology has tremendous potential. Recall recent news that mRNA vaccines show promise against pancreatic cancer in early trials www.nbcnews.com/health/cance...
