Hi - looking for Daily Games that aren’t coded with ai. Whatcha got?

Deductopia comes out tomorrow! This is the culmination of two of the hardest years of my life, including disaster, recovery, and loss. It's a low-key miracle that this game still got finished, and it means a lot to me if you check it out. store.steampowered.com/app/4429720/...

I created this photo using recent research so it relaxes your brain when you pause to look at the details. As I'm sometimes too unwell to post here (not good mental health due to PMDD & recovering from a breakdownA) it would help so much if you could maybe RT my photo. Many thanks 🌿

"AI can draft an essay for you, especially if you give it a high quality prompt." Really? This is what MIT thinks high schoolers should learn? MIT's "Day of AI" dayofai.org provides materials for K-12 teachers and claims to have reached over 5,000,000 students to date. 1/2

Hi - looking for Daily Games that aren’t coded with ai. Whatcha got?

Here's a graph of the online homework average (out of 1) vs. midterm exam score (out of 100) for my big class. What do you notice? Sigh. 🎢 🍎

Me: I don't see any reason to use AI Slop peddlers: You know how you want to sell books but you hate writing? Me: No, I love writing. The only reason I care about selling books is so I can afford to write instead of getting a real job Slop peddlers: Oh. Well... You know how you hate your kids?

Actions speak louder than words, personally I was in talks with Epic to get all my game assets on their Fab.com marketplace (for free) but cancelled the deal immediately. If they want slop, let them have slop.

We just concluded the 4th Annual ATLJAM, a local game jam in Atlanta and our community made some awesome games. Check them out! Also worth noting, we had a strict anti generative AI rule this year. Not a single tear was shed. Everyone just made cool games by hand. itch.io/c/8389522/at...

Hey, psst - are you a Boston area game developer who actively dislikes ai/LLMs... and feels out of place in the local scene? Reach out, I'm putting something together. (Do you need to be Boston area? No! But I'm just trying to make baby steps in reaching out...)

Happy "Worldwide Howl at the Moon Night." If this is your first time, I suggest starting off small, by howling at a moon scaled down to the size of a single pixel. #ScienceHoliday www.joshworth.com/dev/pixelspa...

I think it's hard for the younger generation to grasp how non-existent this identity was prior to the 2000s. Like, I came up with a core pillar of it now widely used back when there were like, 1000 of us on AVEN. I introduced asexuality to the University of Michigan LGBT club, who were baffled!

If this holds up, this is the mind-boggling sci-fi shit we need, not thruster cars

Couldn't resist making my own version

I have multiple acquaintances who are incredulous that we're not using AI to code our game/DLC. Tbh, most of our time is thinking, tweaking and polishing anyway, not code. And when there is more code to be done, I get my son help with it, who gets paid, as a human. I'm fine with that.

ive seen a few people say that they think using AI for code is less bad than using it for art, and like, there’s a part of me that sees it! code is supposed to be a series of outputs that work or don’t. deterministic, functional. I think it misses a lot of points, though.

There are no ethical uses of AI. There are no “safe” uses of AI. There are no defensible “leftist” uses of AI. You want to know how I know this? The computer scientists in my life who had to work on it are all suffering moral injuries and burnout.

I've made 6 open-source @godotengine.org projects perfect for as a base for your first or next game. Completely human-made and easy to understand code & comments. All visuals and sounds included, CC0! kenney.nl/starter-kits

idk man, i have to believe that individual choices do matter because the other option is to see everything i love die a slow and insidious death

"dont worry, we didn't use LLMs for real art, like writing, or graphics, or sound, we only used it for dumb gross useless basic shit like programming" always the funnest thing to read as a programmer, as someone whose whole career is based on code, whose handwritten library changed the industry etc

If you're looking for art to accompany a press release, this is what I do. I have a PhD in astronomy and space illustration/animation is my specialty. This piece, on green white dwarfs, is one of my most recent commissions. Please don't use AI. Use an artist. Thank you. #sciart #scicomm #blender

My 11yo is learning coding as a hobby. One friend told him it is pointless because it won't get him a job in ten years. His other friend told him to just have AI code whatever he wants. He is standing his ground and still learning to do it himself. My gosh, the parental pride coursing through me!

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

If you're a person who doesn't like ai... this is a *really* great game to play. I dare say it's a (fun) educational game about the dangers of using ai. Definitely sharpened my thinking on the topic a bit. Bots that Explode Most of the Time: docterbuster.itch.io/bots-that-ex...

New gold-standard EULA just dropped

It's National Mushroom Day! So get out there and, uh, play Mycelium Empire, a really interesting game about the fungus that connects plant roots underground. Go get those nutrients, folks! #ScienceHoliday capra-solutions.itch.io/mycelium-emp...

Uh, Happy International Top Spinning Day! I actually hadn't come across this one yet from Falstad, can't believe I missed it in the list. Your very own simulated spinning top. www.falstad.com/top/ #ScienceHoliday

You know all those "who would you trust to carry the One Ring to Mordor" posts...? I am coming to realize we already have a test ongoing and I would choose any of us all who have refused to use AI.

@unity.com and @epicgamesstore.bsky.social's recent push into AI is damaging to the creativity that empowers the games industry. We Indies rejects the notion that such tools and services have a place in the industry and our community at large. We hold a firm stance that AI has no place in games.

They're going to kill us all to build a beach resort.

I'm sorry but it feels like the subtext of every "ai is inescapable folks just deal with it" post is "I'm getting the vibe that using Claude might be something people won't respect and like me for and I really need that to stop"

you think this is like being a vampire? oh no i touched AI guess now i have to bend over if everyone uses AI, then I'll make everyone's lives difficult, even if i slip up here and there

Even in Star Trek where they had actual super ai and replicators they still had living teachers
