Kesha Williams at #DDDPerth brings up an interesting point about AI. A prompt is a suggestion, not a command. I think a lot of devs are so used to typing commands they forget that even if it’s happening in your IDE, a chat interface isn’t code. It’s a conversation with a powerful tool about code.

I’m at #DDDPerth today, really looking forward to the web-related talks & closing keynote. I’d love to catch up with old friends & meet new folks (I’m an accessibility expert, ask me anything!) But I have low face recognition & I need new glasses, so you’ll have to spot me & say hi first 😅

Simon talking about systems theory changed how I approach problems at work, and it’s been so helpful. Highly recommend getting along to hear him if you can!

When delivery slows down, it's tempting to do something. Add people. Add AI agents. Restructure the teams. Buy better tools. Introduce a new process. The activity goes up. The meetings go up. The reporting goes up. But does the work actually get delivered faster?

open notepad type hi this is my website. type here is a link to elsewhere: <a href=“https://sil.kryogenix.org/“>me on Bluesky</a> There, you have a web page. You still need to publish it, but that’s no more difficult than signing up for (and ignoring crazy people on) Facebook, I promise.

Suw@suw.bsky.social

Fucking hell. Facebook is now limiting the number of links that a page or professional profile can include in a post to TWO PER MONTH, unless you pay them $7.99 a month. Fucking assholes.

Like most other disciplines, accessibility takes practice, time, and patience. No one starts a new endeavor and is instantly excellent at it with nothing to learn. If your beginning goal is absolute perfection, you'll burn out. You'll find excuses to not try. Get started and try.

Oh good, totally not a problem to give disabled people’s data to a company owned by a eugenics fan.

Josh Taylor@joshtaylor.bsky.social

Have been trying to pull this all together after NDIA denied using Palantir, but it seems NDIS data may have ended up in Palantir as part of the Fraud Fusion Taskforce - data goes to ACIC which has been using Palantir. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

personally I think we should just take the ai doomers at their word and shut it down if they’re telling the truth, well, good thing we shut it down. If they’re exaggerating, well, they shouldn’t have done that

Neither of these pieces mention that the Australian government's plan to mandate renewable energy growth for data centres involves the purchase of offsets that will almost certainly not actually result in a renewable build-out. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08... www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

I've been taking a low dose of Vyvanse for a week now. Seems to be working for me. I like it! I'm finishing tasks and reading long-form stuff. Side-effects are manageable. It'd be fun to have a hot take on ADHD meds but I genuinely feel just... nice.

BTW the definition of robotics researcher is very broad. "Robotics adjacent" or "robotics aspiring" or "robotics curious" may also apply. "I'm a little botcurious"

A "podcast" that is taped and released as video and features famous people is just a talk show that doesn't have to abide by union rules.

I would really love to stop paying for Grammarly. Spelling and grammar often jumble themselves in my head. Does anyone have some good recommendations on alternatives? I never need it on my phone. People I care enough about to text can suck it, lol. I only use it in browsers and apps when I write.

I'll be there, sharing the ways you can move beyond basic accessibility compliance and really embed it in your workplace

Last week, researchers identified code in Meta AI's smart glasses app that could convert faces into unique biometric signatures to identify strangers in public. Just as quietly as they embedded this code, the app’s 6/5 update appears to have quietly removed them. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
