I get that taxing gas is attractive, but it is simply putting a price tag on the environment. Policies that make more sense to me include clamping down on profit-shifting offshore; increasing taxes on corporate profits; removing subsidies for fossil fuel extraction & use.

Business Councils (like Advertising Councils) are the last century’s functional Sith Lords. Their members were part of setting up Atlas Network think tanks for propaganda at a remove. The fewer rights, protections, you have the better. The worse your pay, the better. #Auspol #SpringSt

Received edited draft back from the publisher. Looking through the proposed changes/queries and expecting "WTF were you trying to say here?!" but so far, it's been minor.

Shout out to the driver of the silver hatchback who drove through a pedestrian/bike crossing on Bourke St this morning. Fortunately I'd stopped mid-crossing because I could see he wasn't watching the road. He seemed surprised to see me there when he hit the raised crossing and looked up.

Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 and replaced it with a restored stream, 1000 acre park and improved public transit, not only did it TRANSFORM the city’s public life and economic success, but the car traffic got better. The car traffic got BETTER.

This is similar to the way I quote cycling-related purchases

$25B direct cost. $6B share purchase cost. $6B transmission line cost. A $37B total for a project sold to the public at $2B . It’s a huge economic debacle delivered by LNP/ALP dunces and fat cat bureaucrats. And no one is held to account. #fail #auspol

I need a second opinion, folks. My wife doesn’t think “We’re not here to fuck spiders” is appropriate language for an email to a client who’s been dicking around.

I'd filed a Hanson/ Lambie cartoon for today but it seemed a bit tin eared with what's happened in Indi so I did a new, last minute one this morning. I had a few ideas about division & dark days but thought I'd focus on something that's bringing people together instead. Here's to Helen Haines.

My wife and I did an ancestry.com dna thing to see where our families originated and I’m seven layers of snowflake. Nothing outside the British isles. Scotland, northern ireland, northern England; bit of wales and Southern Ireland.

Yesterday’s coffee conversation with my wife landed on the idea that the reason we only experience time in one dimension is because we’re sitting on the surface of 5 or 6 dimensional space time with multiple temporal dimensions. But like a circle on a piece of paper, we can’t access them.
