~3 Days left & what fun it's been seeing the different strats to make number go big :D Current score to beat is 1757 - but some people are cooking, likely to change soon!

There's 8,201 demos in this Next Fest, which will you play? If DWARRF: A Pinball Roguelike is on your to-play list, you could win a $50 Steam voucher! Got to find some way to pay for all these awesome new games that are coming out 🤔 store.steampowered.com/news/app/363... (No ai slop - as always)

Well - Next Fest is nowhere near as good any more (as expected). 2023 10K Wishlists -> 33K WL 2026 10K Wishlists -> 11K WL (predicted, realistically less) Kinda strange both games entered Next Fest with a similar WL count. Not complaining but I'll need to rethink the strat for the next game!

This is like discovering a new combination of ice cream flavours.

Also, absolutely massive demo update so if you've played it before you might like this version even more. Main changes: - Runes, enchant your balls & create super powerful combos! - Map overhaul - 20 minute floors, less battles, more events

With Next Fest around the corner & with 8,000+ demos participating (with a high % slop), I think it's a good time to remind everyone that this exists. Help people find & determine human made games.

We're stoked to introduce the 'No Gen AI' seal for indie games! Indie devs can use it on their game's store page to assure potential players that their game was made without the use of Generative AI. You can grab it from the Polygon Treehouse website:- www.polygon-treehouse.com/no-gen-ai-seal

"you can't avoid ai, it's in everything" *Looks at the 800 something game devs on my starter packs of devs that don't use AI* Yeah I think I'll be okay.

headfallsoff@headfallsoff.com

the "you can't avoid AI, it's in all software now" argument might be true for infrastructure, where we have limited agency over the platforms and systems that make up our society, but is hilariously untrue for video games, a completely optional and easily ignored part of all of our lives

We encode our thoughts into words for others to decode back into thoughts. Aka (thought->words->thought) This already isn't perfect. Miscommunication happens all the time, especially online. So with: (thought->prompt->LLM->words->thought) You're going to lose so much, it'll always be slop.

To fight enemies in DWARRF, you use a two phase system. Firstly, you charge up your ball using the pinball/pachinko board. Hitting pegs increases the damage you'll do. Hitting ORE will increase your frenzy meter, which when at 100% causes you to go into "MINING FRENZY" increasing your damage done.

Then you go to the top down view and fire your charged ball right at the enemies! Well, you do for some balls. Some carry out AoE damage, or charm, or taunt, or a heal-there are currently over 50 different balls you can have in your bag(deck) with 100+ effects to enchant them with. Tactics & chaos!

Working on updates for Life Not Supported feels like gamedev on hardcore mode. The project only works on one machine, in one unity version, in one folder and I have no idea why. I just hope i can finish it before this laptop inevitably dies…
