It'simple: Everyone who is more into functional programming than me is a dork with math envy afraid of actual hardware, everyone who is less into functional programming than me is an uncultured philistine stuck in 1982 writing C.

Oh. The PHP thing is trying to do thread cancellation on OOM through longjmp. You never do thread cancellation, certainly not through longjmp, and especially not on OOM

At least it is not 7, that would have been too easy to guess

Russ Cox@swtch.com

The details are now public, as of two hours ago. bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi... The secret P-384 keys for these intermediate CAs are all zeros except the last 8 bits. All not-updated software can be MITM'ed now. IOT boxes that can't or don't update are now trivially MITM'able forever.

Good luck to anyone out there, I'm moving into my comfort shack up the Yukon

nightshade →eth0:2026@nightshade.technology

details leaked. this vulnerability is a full unauthenticated unconditional remote code execution exploit against any service running on a PHP version from 5.4 until latest yeah if anything deserves CVSS 11, this is it. this is CATACLYSMICALLY bad.

Blue morphos' wings have a big range of unrepresentable cyans. It's structural color, so pure frequencies, and all squarely in the blue green region screens can't show you. They look nothing like this.

To those who say "what's the worst that could happen": Saying shit like this will get your neural orb subpoenaed and could impact your next artifacer exam. They might even revoke your license to practice hermetic cyberimplantation...

„Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark.“ Ok, thank you, I don’t think we need to look at the rest of them, now give me back the other ink blots.

if you start hearing somebody refer to things in public conversations with proper nouns between themselves and their AI, you are dealing with somebody who has cracked and may need significant assistance "oh yeah I just use Fooblert [a search skill] for that" is an early warning sign

the dawkins AI thing is mostly interesting because he freely admits it imagine how many public figures are exactly the same just more careful about discussing it out loud to anyone except to their claudia

after three years on Bluesky I can confidently say that the problem with phone bans in schools is that they don’t go far enough. we need to ban phones for everyone. if you want to get mad online you should have to go sit in a special room for it.

people are not talking enough about how AI is a huge force multiplier, for how much of a loser you are. many cool people are having nuanced convos and figuring out how to be more productive/creative but people who already sucked? turning in total slop and bragging about how this changes everything

This is a complete fabrication. The linked study does not find this nor does it purport to find this nor does it even attempt to find anything like this nor does it involve collecting or analyzing any data whatsoever about children in households that used voice commands.

Incredible Gell-Mann moment seeing people I thought to be smart repost this preprint and call it exciting or even particularly interesting.

procedural carrot generator side quest in threejs

Tim Duffy@timfduffy.com

The other day a friend joked we should do a "carrot day" where we each eat 20 full sized carrots in a day, and I played along, thinking it was a funny goof. Yesterday I realized that he was totally serious, so now I have three pounds of carrots to get through today.

Everyone knows the real reason why json won over xml is because the latter was too pointy and the former has much better affordances because it's curvier

the world does not need anymore videos of people holding a clip on mic in their fingers and giving their incoherent take on a news item they half understood

They say if you repeat „Make illegal states unrepresentable“, „Parse don’t validate“ and „Correct by construction“ three times in the mirror the ghost of Curry Haskell appears to give you a hug.

Backpropagation and gradient descent also have obvious limitations, and these very limitations made them impractical in those decades. Specifically they require data and compute that were not available. 1960s-1970s academia/industry were quite pragmatic actually

⚡️🌙@dystopiabreaker.xyz

backpropagation and gradient descent are old ideas, too, arguably dating back to the 1960s and 1970s. but academia and industry were hypnotized by symbolic logic, expert systems, etc, despite their obvious and apparent limitations
