AI is an employee who never says no, never talks back, and who has no emotions, so you're free to be an asshole to it without consequence. Certain men have been fantasizing about this for their whole lives. They will happily burn the world down to create it.
This is all about their inability to handle dealing with other people and their emotions. I once worked for a CEO who spent all weekend writing code to monitor an employee to avoid talking to them about a concern. AI is by and for people like this.
We've wanted to put Quicksilver in customers' hands for a long time now, and with this release we finally have! Workers KV Instant is built on top of Quicksilver, serves reads in around 2ms at p99, and pushes writes to every Cloudflare location in about 1/4 sec. blog.cloudflare.com/workers-kv-i...

Worth a read: @haskell.org published a new edition of @lexi-lambda.bsky.social's famous explanation of the differences between foldl and foldr in Haskell. Also: Proximal.ai raised a $15M seed round. And MongoDB is hiring a Senior Software Engineer on Benchmarking in Mexico. Links in bio

@aoc.bsky.social just put out a great statement on AI. Refreshing to see a major politician on the left nail this. "Silicon Valley billionaires want us to believe that Al robots will destroy humanity. But the biggest threat to humanity are the tech oligarchs themselves." 🎯

There have always been humans who thought: 1) The world will end soon 2) It will happen in a cool, exciting way 3) It’ll happen to me personally 4) I’ll be a martyred prophet, or a warlord, or otherwise special 5) People who don’t see this are lesser “Sexy apocalypse” is a great phrase for that
Certain kinds of smart people tend to have a "sexy apocalypse" problem when it comes to thinking about risk. E.g. skynet turning everyone in paperclips, while bad, is also *kind of cool and fun* at the same time. Where the reality is that most actual disasters are both stupid and disappointing.

You can now scope access to individual Workers and assign narrower Developer Platform roles, so teammates, CI tokens, and agents get only the access they need to debug, deploy, or monitor safely. https://cfl.re/4xNVOqO

More than once I have heard techies in the EU lament that we are going to "lose the AI race". When I ask how that's measured, they say "Isn't it obvious?" No, it's not. Forcing the tech dev to slow down to consider the human and societal implications is a win. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women." Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration. It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. Our latest.

Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

More than *anything* the people who actually know how technology works, who actually build things, wish that people would treat LLMs like every other technology, and be normal about them. Don't build a religion about them, don't force them on people, don't ignore the problems. Just be normal.

The appropriate historical analogy is radium, not the web. In this TED talk, I will
LLMs everywhere - in software engineering, but in all other industries as well - is happening faster than any past tech adoption. This is also why, the strategy to ignore AI for a few years is likely to have a similar outcome as ignoring the internet for a decade or two from the late 90s
