It's always great to talk with @danyork.bsky.social, and this time it was as a guest on his podcast. We talked about the future of Internet measurement, the challenges of measuring Internet disruptions, and the potential impact of agentic AI. (And cheeseburgers...) soundcloud.com/danyork/tdyr...

An island-wide power outage in #Cuba has impacted #Internet connectivity across the country. Starting around 17:45 UTC, @radar.cloudflare.com data shows traffic dropping by >50% compared to the prior week, and @ioda.live shows a 10% drop in successful active probing.

The #earthquake in #Colombia had a nominal impact on #Internet connectivity, per @radar.cloudflare.com data. Traffic dropped 35% compared to the prior week. Traffic at an ASN level appeared to recover quickly. Some loss of announced IP space, suggesting infrastructure damage as well.

The impact of an issue impacting @t-mobile.bsky.social subscribers is visible in @radar.cloudflare.com traffic data. Starting around 20:00 UTC, traffic on AS21928 fell by as much as 10% as compared to the prior week. radar.cloudflare.com/traffic/as21...

Latest chart for traffic to Iran since December 2025. After two shutdowns, traffic levels have not returned to pre-Jan-8 levels, and is unlikely to do so in the foreseeable future. #DigitalBlackOutIran‌

According to @radar.cloudflare.com, .juniper has a fairly low DNS magnitude. Also interesting that nearly half of the queries to 1.1.1.1 for .juniper hostnames come from Germany. radar.cloudflare.com/tlds/juniper...

I wonder if the second book in the series was called “Foreman Farley Causes an Internet Outage”

Just to keep today's partial restoration of Iranian internet connectivity in perspective, please take a look at this overall timeline. Iran has a long way to go to get back to pre-Jan-8 levels of traffic volumes. #DigitalBlackOutIran‌

Seeing the first signs of a possible internet restoration in Iran at 12:01 UTC today. While a few networks spiked in traffic, most are still down. #DigitalBlackOutIran‌

I was one of the 1100 impacted by yesterday's layoff at Cloudflare. Thankful that I had the opportunity to work on @radar.cloudflare.com over the past 4+ years, evolving it into a trusted industry resource. Would love to continue working with #Internet data in my next role...

Gov’ts continue to shut down the internet during school exams, claiming it prevents cheating. There’s no evidence it works. But there’s clear evidence it violates rights + cuts people off from essential services. Here’s what’s on our watch list for 2026 🔽 www.accessnow.org/campaign/no-...

From War to Sovereignty: The Normalization of Tiered Internet in Iran

The IODA team and Project Ainita have documented a measurement-based perspective of the ongoing shutdown cutting Iran off from the global Internet. The Iranian regime has morphed a "stealth Internet blackout" from June 2025 into a new Internet. ioda.inetintel.cc.gatech.edu/reports/from...

On February 28, the #Internet was shut down in #Iran for the second time in 2026. Two months later, it remains largely unavailable. However, increased allowlisting of external sites, and availability of "Internet Pro" access has driven nominal increases in traffic visible in the back half of April.
