This is thrilling and didn't happen by accident. In 2023 we ended 30 minute waits on nights and weekends, and ever since, BART weekend ridership has been climbing, faster than weekday ridership. I championed this change for two years before staff made it happen, and it's worked as we had hoped.

Ian Griffiths@icgee.bsky.social

Happy Monday! More promising Bay Area transit ridership news - Oct 2026 BART weekend ridership was 97.2% of pre-pandemic levels (vs Oct 2019) - and Sunday ridership is now above 2019 levels at 102.9%! My math below - check for yourself at www.bart.gov/news/article...

I generally don’t believe in poll unskewing - if the pollster’s legit, throw it in the average and move on - but there are some pollsters doing likely-voter screens this cycle that are truly incomprehensible

Feels like a metaphor for Elon Musk

In July, an incensed Elon Musk vowed that Grok Imagine would produce a "full-length" and "historically accurate" adaptation of Homer's Odyssey to put Christopher Nolan's woke version to shame. Three months later, we got seven minutes of slop that Grok itself admits is not historically accurate.

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

When Democrats win a trifecta in PA (either now or in 2028), it'll be important to decrease the power of Yass' big money and boost small donors.

Adam Bonin@adambonin.bsky.social

Via @stephenjcaruso.bsky.social, who really should post here more than there, I'm counting $8.52M from Jeffrey Yass to try to preserve a GOP state senate majority in PA (candidate giving, SRCC, and State GOP) and another $1.1M to stanch the bleeding in the state house, where Dems lead 103-100.

This chart from Ethan Chen shows just how red the battleground is at the end of this election. If something really is structurally broken in the polling, like Mike Johnson and right-wing pundits keep insisting, it's showing up not just in Dem and public research, but clearly in R research as well.

(I will always ask where this was in 2024, when we already knew Trump and Epstein were buddies and the Kendrick/Drake feud had ignited a heightened cultural condemnation of pedophiles)

The trouble here: to separate 'accountability' & 'prices are too high,' as we can see Patrick Ruffini doing here, is self-serving subterfuge. Why are prices high? Tariffs, fiscal deterioration's effect on interest rates, starting a stupid war in the Gulf … all stuff that people can fault Trump for.

Brian Beutler@brianbeutler.bsky.social

It really is too bad that more high-profile Dems didn't come to Elissa Slotkin's defense last week. A huge amount rids on whether the narrative we propound about the election is 1) Dems won to hold Trump accountable or 2) Dems won because prices are too high. 🧵 www.offmessage.net/p/wheres-the...
