Look, here's the thing. With layoffs, shutdowns, and GTA coming out in a month: If a game looks cool to you and you have the disposable income: buy it. Don't just cheer on indie games from the sidelines. Don't wait for a sale, or until you have time. Support art that excites you, tangibly.

Concept art for Trash City Turbo. - The Brackman MK2 wrestle a turbo charged street sweeper through the filthy districts of Neotropolis. Think physics-based handling, high-speed gameplay, and a deeply satisfying cleaning system. #art #conceptart #illustation #gamedev #indiegame

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

The thing about the boxes they were all just scrap wood used to test my depths while making the main project of the set of draws. It helps me to have scrap take the tests before I use the good wood and means I grow a little family of boxes #woodworking

Now the test boxes are sanded and one coat of oil and already have the joints popping like I hoped. They all use different wood types so different results from the boiled linseed #woodworking

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

REALLY enjoying Galaxy Racer. It's whole run-based mechanic is so smart. I feel bad when I lose but I'm excited to see what I unlocked and who's gonna insult me in huttese next. It understands the Star wars universe sooo well.

I'm on 5.6 but this is true even in 5.8. How was this supposed to work? I'm curious if anyone's messed with Gameplay Cameras that has run into this before. It's doing some fancy things with namespaces and evaluator declarations in C++ but it's not THAT complicated. Am I missing something??

You should be asking why Rockstar gets to do this and doesn't run into any issues with payment processors, while the rest of anyone drawing or writing "explicit content" on any platform have so much trouble getting paid

IGN@ign.com

GTA 6 has received a rating of PEGI 18, revealing mentions of "decapitation," the ability for players to snort cocaine at any time, "scenes of sexual fetishes," and much more.

The reason I hesitate is the risk of overscope. I'm weighing the value of making the something really cool that could get someone to play the game vs the potential additional work involved that could prevent it getting finished.

I'm considering if it's worth/how best to get more life into the battles. Having a single sprite for front and back view is retro but having the bots move, and strike, have idle loops and damage frames would really pop. #indiegame #BotHacker

To get that to work with the existing battle animations would mean making them all the same length per bot, mostly transitions and loops. The offset position would move from a lookup table to nodes in the sequence, making the. Simpler to manage.

Beyond that, not ever bot will have every attack so it would be possible to skip some and make specialized versions for others. Dredger has an Harpoon attack, and a harpoon in their sprite for example. It feels like a big change but I'm really considering it.

I'm thinking I can leverage the tech I made for the attack animations to drive animations for the bots. Each sprite would be broken up into smaller parts so and moved individually. Adding additional frames for poses or angles would be a lot more dynamic than one frame pose for the whole sprite.

I really enjoyed the first Control but so much of that was because of the environment art. All the video I've seen of the new game makes it look like it's just an open world city, and it makes me far less interested.

I've been reworking the battle UI and noticed that if I remove ever instance of "Name used Attack!" and just attached an action tag, it no longer reinforces the names in my memory. It makes me wonder if that's why Pokemon players can remember so many of their favorites. #indiegame #gamedev

This method feels a lot cleaner but from a branding standpoint it's a mistake. It's mildly upsetting to see how just making someone repeatedly hear or reach a name can worm it's way into your brain. Marketing am I right? anyways... BotHacker BotHacker BotHacker BotHacker BotHacker

There are times I think I could have gone larger than 16x16 pixel tiles. I am not about to go back and change everything, but everytime I see a game that went larger I get a little wistful.
