A news: This was my last week @panic.com! (Though I'll still be an advisor.) We did a lot of cool things together, and I'll miss my friends, but it's time for a change. - I'm working on a new game that I'm VERY jazzed about - I have some other things slow-cooking - A new collab with YOU, reader??

just a reminder that there are a lot of great videogames coming out - certainly more in the indie realm than when the indie boom started in the late 00's/early 2010's. and it is absolutely a failure of the larger game industry to not make that reality feel at all worthwhile or meaningful.

Look, here's the thing. With layoffs, shutdowns, and GTA coming out in a month: If a game looks cool to you and you have the disposable income: buy it. Don't just cheer on indie games from the sidelines. Don't wait for a sale, or until you have time. Support art that excites you, tangibly.

right now there's no guarantee AI usage becomes embedded in indie games. We're a scene. We don't HAVE to be this. Individual choices couldn't matter more in this moment. To see that you can make a small, positive impact at mild inconvenience to yourself and say "nah" is to give up on a better world.

I'll be honest, there is nothing more demoralizing to me than devs saying "I know AI is built on theft, and anti-labour, and harms the environment, but I'm going to use it anyway bc I don't believe individual choices matter". This is how a movement fails. www.molleindustria.org/blog/future-...
