Can 2027 be the year we finally get all the Core Web Vitals in all browsers? 🙏 Work your magic folks: github.com/web-platform... #webperf

Interop 2027 is open for proposals! Is there a well-tested feature that you'd like to see cross-browser focus on next year? Submit it here: github.com/web-platform...

It's midnight and I've started watching a 40 minute video about a bloke servicing a Bosch hammer drill.

BTW the keyboard flex on the Starlight version is ridiculous, to the point that I’m surprised they shipped it. It’s because of the transparent PCB apparently. I’ll have to try one of the 3D printed fixes.

I’m updating events for 2026 on Eventua11y and experimenting with having Claude create them using the Sanity MCP server. I am of course checking them, but if there’s temporary weirdness, that’s why!

I’m starting with annual theme events that repeat on the same date each year, or on a pattern that Claude can calculate.

Me: "I bet ChatGPT has come up with some great deep research insights for my question about accessibility in design systems." ChatGPT: "I’m thinking through a funeral director's wine blog and personal site..."

Came for a burger, ended up with a logical paradox. This McDonalds location is closed until it’s open, which is 24 hours a day.

This #GAAD and every GAAD, you can champion #accessibility by hiring accessibility specialists, paying them well, ensuring they have what they need to be successful and make a change, and by not putting their heads on the chopping block first whenever layoffs roll around. #a11y

And the bug that caused GAAD to appear yesterday has been fixed. 😅

OK I want to know more about BT's web infrastructure. I've created an account and now they're like "please allow at least 10 minutes from the time you receive your activation email before completing this step". Is someone literally scribing my details onto a parchment scroll or something?

I’m flying at 40,000ft and my dishwasher has just messaged to say it has finished its load. What a time to be alive.

I just made a thing: A collection of links for web developers to navigate the web platform more easily. 🟢 Places to follow progress and keep track. 🟣 Places to make your voice heard and influence the platform with your use cases.

🦊 Friday was my last day working at 18F. It was a team of extraordinary people, but a few things happened that made me realize I had to leave. Everything happens so much these days, so I thought I’d write down for myself what happened, and how I made my decision: ethanmarcotte.com/wrote/leavin...

1/ Here's my take on what's happening with DOGE. I've got fed experience through contracting with Health & Human Safety, Head Start, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and DOD. I get brought in when people need to get shit done. Other people here have way more experience than me.

Dan Hon@danhon.com

does anyone _really_ want any more opinions about DOGE and what it's doing and how from someone like me

Hatred of pronouns is absurd. It’s just basic good manners and respect. Tell me what name you go by and how to pronounce it and that’s what I’ll call you. Same for pronouns. I might get them wrong occasionally, but I try, and it costs me nothing.

The most important thing I can tell everyone that I've learned from being a YouTuber who explains how stuff works is that each and every time I thought "this is common knowledge and doesn't need to be explained" I was wrong.

Whenever I see braille I think of my Mum. She uses her computer with speech output and enjoys listening to audiobooks, but braille is still her favourite way to read and write. She gets excited whenever she finds it on product packaging. Hat tip to Co-op, perhaps the only UK supermarket to bother.

Happy #WorldBrailleDay! Read by fingers instead of eyes, braille replaces each letter of the alphabet with a group of six raised dots. If you don’t already know braille, your challenge for today is to learn how to write your name. https://www.perkins.org/how-the-braille-alphabet-works/ #Braille200
