What a week! So grateful for the opportunity to speak at #Config2025 alongside @lukasoppermann.com. Our talk "Connecting code with craft" is now up on YouTube, check it out! youtu.be/6l6El4xqIZ4?... I'm particularly proud of this last minute slide edition.

Finally got a post up on the GitHuh blog github.blog/engineering/... 👀

Complementary is back with episode 80! This is a fun one: Anthony generated an issue tracking interface with AI that I hadn't seen before, and we discussed whether or not we think AI is good at visual design (without human intervention). creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Morning coffee: ceramic mug Afternoon coffee: glass cup It’s a thing.

Another unexpected side effect: everything in my life, with very few exceptions, should be fragrance free.

Another great chat in the books!

An unexpected side effect of being in my mid 30’s is that I’m suddenly obsessed with fruit. I’m all about it. So yeah, it’s finally red kiwi season.

The new season of Beef is a one episode per sitting kind of show. I genuinely cannot tolerate any more than that (in a good way).

After years of avoiding the topic of career advice, Anthony and I finally indulged this week on Complementary. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

What is going on with Adobe podcast ads

Complementary is back this week! Anthony and I discuss those small "quality of life" details that can help make an interface feel premium. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Complementary podcast is taking a little Spring break, but we'll be back in April with new topics and discussions around interface design!

Nothing makes me feel more accomplished than installing a new light fixture.

This week on Complementary, Anthony and I were joined by Laura Sinisterra to chat about her unique visual design style. One of my favorite conversations to date, thanks Laura for joining us! creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Sometimes you just need to rant about AI with a friend. Anthony and I did just that this week on Complementary. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Zoom backgrounds are simply not made for people with curly hair.

Take a lil break from your clawdbot setup and immerse yourself in a conversation about icons in menus inspired by Nikita Prokopov's article "It’s hard to justify Tahoe icons" creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Any friends have experience self hosting a small DB with PocketBase? pocketbase.io

How's your day going?

The new 28 Years Later really hits! Starting off 2026 strong.

A perfect Saturday morning coffee read order.design/project/fran...

Been working on a lil dev stack for my non tech partner to collab on a web app we have running on our NAS: GitHub for source control/actions to deploy Cursor hacked with a GH codespace for dev Live Share so I can check work/guide No more watching him struggle w/ vibe code apps

So are we all building personal(?) software for our non techy partners or We need a name for this

Complementary is back and this week Anthony and I discussed this talk from @jenson.org, which was a delight to watch! creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Season 2 of The Pitt. We are so back!

Starting a new role in the age of AI has been such a game changer for me. Claude helps me optimize my workflows before I get too deep into the work. And Cursor talks me through an unfamiliar codebase, helps get my git aliases in order and all the things. Hard to imagine the before times.

Hey, are you in New York City? Are you someone who thrives at the intersection of design and engineering? Are you free January 22nd? Well, since you've answered yes to all of those questions come to the first Design Engineering meetup of 2026 at Datadog! Did I mention, it's FREE 💸 luma.com/7hshd3al

The hoops I had to jump through today to get my key lights to turn on when my webcam turns on 😩 on a veeery locked down work machine (but I freaking DID IT)

For our last episode of 2025, Anthony and I each brought some famous design phrases to discuss. Thanks to all our listeners this year! We'll be back in January with more interface design topics. Let us know if there's a topic you want to hear. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Got my copy! So excited to read this ☺️

If you'd like to hear Anthony Hobday explain why all interfaces are made of plastic, check out this week's episode of Complementary. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Obsessed with Turnstile and MSPAINT this year. Who else should I be listening to?

Today I’ve reached testing a box of old light bulbs level of deep cleaning 🧘‍♀️

I purchased every layout many years ago and I still reference it at least a few times a year. Great time to pick it up!

After 4 years, today's my last day at GitHub. It's hard to describe just how much I've learned working on Primer alongside a best in class team. I'm leaving with a sense of confidence and clarity in the work that we do, and I'm so excited to share what's next soon! 🙌

Turns out when you try to make a list of things that are easy vs. hard to design, most things just seem hard. Anthony and I had a fun time comparing lists this week on Complementary. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

Reminiscing about the fun videos I used to make www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SCt...

This week Anthony shares some ways he's using AI in his design practice which lean much less technical than my own methods. This conversation was a good reminder for me that designers should work with code if they *want* to, not as a requirement. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

So are all systems people as obsessed with perfectly packing/unpacking or just me?

So my partner just explained baseball to me. We don’t watch baseball. But he knows all of the rules and terminology, apparently. We are a baseball household now.

Anthony and I shared our favorite design assets on Complementary this week. After trying to define what a design asset is, of course. creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...

What an incredibly useful little tool! github.com/apinanaivot/...

Any friends going to Schema IRL next week?

Someone needs to build a MacroFactor but for project management

Another guest this week on Complementary! We had a fun chat with @andreasmoller.dk from @nordcraft.com about design tools based on code vs. vector. I (obviously) love the idea of designers working closer to production ❤️ creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/...
