Nothing says "the media manufactured the Russia hoax" than going on a hunting trip with one Russian oligarch right after another Russian oligarch had paid for your wedding.

EVERYONE PLEASE, we need to stop *checks notes* ...we gotta stop using the *checks notes* trope

I grew up in a lower income immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster for "special days." But we also understood the White House should not look like the inside of Red Lobster. It's condescending to assuming working ppl are culturally illiterate bc their experience is shaped by their limited means.

The New York Times just put out this credulous bullshit that claims Iran is getting ready to attack, citing Trump officials. This is clearly a way for Trump to justify more heavy bombing. It’s so fucking irresponsible to position it like this.

Wildly out of touch. Voters want to see their candidates confident and willing to fight, not meekly taking the bait and retreating to whatever won’t offend a moderate Republican

"Technopolitics" are the politics embedded in technology. The Ur-text of technopolitics is "Do Artifacts Have Politics?" by the rock critic turned scholar Langdon Winner: faculty.cc.gatech.edu/~beki/cs4001...

Late to this Bloomberg piece on Marc Andreessen. This is one of the key things. Andreessen is *angry* about how he has been treated, when any objective observer might note he has benefited enormously from the institutions he now purports to detest. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

Whether it is the East Wing of the White House, the Reflecting Pool on the Mall, the East Potomac golf course, or the Kennedy Center, the wildly incompetent Donald Trump can't turn his attention to *anything* without leaving behind debris and destruction.

The pivot now is that AES “talked down” to Tommy. Anyone who understands America knows that is code for AES being “uppity” to a White person. He’s supposed to endure disrespect and gotchas and never complain. At baseline, asserting your humanity with self respect will always be read as offensive

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

A must read to keep you and your neighbors safe this election season!

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

If national Democrats won't do it, we can. X OFF. Until every vote is counted, get your news somewhere other than X. Then ask the people running for office to publish it somewhere else too.

Trump staggers out of Marine One. He's definitely not beating the "can't walk straight" allegations

JD Vance running around the country saying he’s fighting health care fraud while his nominee for the senate in TX who he completely supports is partying in Dubai with a guy whole stole over $300 million in health care fraud and gave Paxton $190,000. This is the Republican Party.

There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

It's the job of the media to scrutinize such statements and decide whether there's a story here at all (maybe the story is Anthropic researchers have fallen into a fantasy-land and brought many policymakers with them), not to just platform them. >>

New working paper: the Norwegian wealth tax was a huge success. The "exodus" of wealthy people never happened (less than 100 individuals left). Tax revenue increased by 71.5%. No changes in business activity or investment. www.nber.org/papers/w35854

So a book with two gay penguins will traumatize kids but a public execution wouldn't???

This Postseason is going to spark a whole new round of discourse on bunting. And why not? The sport is going to spend the whole offseason in the crosshairs of billionaires who might kill their golden goose rather than pay players what they are owed. We deserve a good round of bunt discourse.

Guess which other narcissistic, mentally unstable authoritarian leader called for an arch and a ballroom to be built as grand monuments to his glory. I'm sure it's just a coincidence . . .

in a just world someone would stone cold stun these guys into concrete

Heya other Dems: say this! Say it all the time!

An antivaxx"study" that's such a dog it barks. It falsely claims that vaccinated kids are more prone to illness without even properly defining "vaccinated", miscounting infections, and not controlling for confounding factors.

The death penalty serves no purpose in the criminal justice system, And as we see today, it tortures everyone involved. stevebrodner.substack.com #deathpenalty

The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

Tomorrow, on October 1, the biggest transfer of wealth from the working class to the wealthy hits a critical milestone. Many of the provisions from the Big Ugly Bill will go into effect, harming hundreds of thousands of Michiganders in order to create tax cuts for the richest people in America.

Whenever you see a pollster or consultant give a take like this, it’s always worth following the money. In this case, Emanuel has paid Anzalone’s firm nearly $300k (maybe more but that’s what I found so far). A consultant class is devouring the Dem Party www.elections.il.gov/CampaignDisc...

As Trump and his Republican minions revive the language of the "Red Scare" and "threat of communism" in the elections, Trump is actively supporting the world's largest communist dictatorship, including by offering to sell them American weapons. Insanity is too mild a word.

Remember, they prosecuted Aaron Swartz and drove him to suicide for hacking one system with the goal of making academic articles freely available to the public. Sam Altman hacked 1000s of sites with the goal of being a trillionaire.

Glad about the result, but I don’t think it speaks well of us as a country that after two years of human rights violations, war crimes, naked gangster corruption, and contempt for the Constitution, he’s finally unpopular because gas got expensive.
