The solution to this dilemma is for Democrats running for office to NOT GO ON FOX NEWS AND SAY THEY AGREE WITH REPUBLICANS ABOUT DISCRIMINATION BEING GOOD!

Hi it’s Meg reposted

All of these cases are basically litmus tests for any Dem nominee. Are immigrants Americans? Do trans Americans deserve human rights? Are corporations superhumans who get to spend endlessly on elections to put whoever they want into power? These are simple questions with simple answers.

In a sane world (an alt reality) today's dissents would sufficient to warrant Thomas, Gorsuch and Alito's impeachment and removal from office. If you defy the plain words, meaning, intent, history, precedent of a black letter constitutional injunction u are abusing your power and should be removed.

And sure you can pretend race isn't a factor, but the reality is that white people in every generation voted for this mess. And until we talk about that, we're going to be running in a circle.

The whole thing about Democrats searching for a winning message for the midterms is infuriating because it is staring them in the face: Rule of Law — People who do illegal shit should face consequences. For insider trading. For illegal wars. For ignoring court orders. For being a pedophile.

Gallego is an act tough on Twitter or CNN guy, which gets him good national coverage but then he’ll do shit like co-sponsor the Laken Riley Act, fundraise with Marc Andreessen, take AI money, and say shit like he supports sending people to CECOT as long as they get due process.

Please keep writing about Nurul Amin Shah Alam. They killed this man. It's a system wide problem that resulted in his death. Every step of the way it was a travesty of justice. This is how immigration law intersects with criminal law. ICE and CBP. Read this and ask why do we fund this? Why?

Wajahat Ali@wajali.bsky.social

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum. Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

ICE at the polls! Bannon is basically yelling “fire” in a crowded theater here. His objective is to cause chaos (and suppress votes on the left). And it’s already working. This threat works on multiple levels and doesn’t have to be “real” to serve its purpose. Let me explain & offer some advice.

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

Steve Bannon says the federal government is planning to send ICE officers to patrol polling stations during the midterms. "We're going to have ICE surround the polls come November." "We're not going to sit here and allow you to steal the country again." www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Just over the past 72 days, two non-white Democratic members of Congress have been attacked, one of them by a Trump supporter who threatened him with deportation. Does JD Vance have anything to say? After all, the GOP VP is always so keen to attack "left-wing" political violence.

Trump is nothing if not ready to sacrifice anyone and anything in order to save his own ass and the single most important thing that could happen right now is someone convincing him that the biggest driver of his unpopularity is not just Bovino and Noem but Stephen Miller personally

I don't want to hear another word about "reforming" ICE. I want you to run in the midterms on removing every dollar of funding for ICE and impeaching every fucking administration official you can get your hands on.

Hi it’s Meg reposted

Lifting this up again. A huge problem now is that there’s a giant slush fund for ICE & CBP separate from annual funding — that Trump can continue to use even during a shutdown. Ds *must* make rescinding those pots of money the price of any future funding deals, as Rs did w/ IRS money from the IRA.

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social

In 2022 we gave the IRS $80 bn. When Rs took the House they made rescinding that $$ the price of funding the govt. In each funding bill enacted since, large chunks of that were pared back Ds should do that for the ICE money from OBBBA. Paring back that $$ must be a prerequisite for funding the govt

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

The thing is that Gallego doesn’t care if those “criminals” are afforded due process given that he co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act but nice quote

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Gallego: "I think ICE needs to be totally torn down. People want immigration enforcement that goes after criminals and focuses on criminals, not the goon squad that has come from Stephen Miller and Donald Trump."

Hi it’s Meg reposted

Senate Democrats absolutely have to shut the govt down to stop this ICE insanity in the Twin Cities. This is not sustainable & cannot be normalized. Any Democratic vote to provide money to the thugs who are brutalizing this community is a grave betrayal to the people here. Accountability can't wait.

There is no compromising with this regime, because regimes don't compromise. These people are fascists. Fight fascists always. No playing to their language or moved goalposts. No taking their statements as legitimate and reporting them. And then PROSECUTE THEM. Every last one of them.

Second, and probably most importantly, it's tactically wrong. "No point discussing political opposition to fascism, there won't be elections anyway" cedes victory to your enemies. It's defeatism and nihilism.
