🚨 Surprise Halloween Release!!
I decided to drop SQUIRE - my "order 66" solo survival game. Blends Star Wars & 40k into a dark, challenging solo survival TTRPG.
On sale for the week of Halloween! bardlight.itch.io/squire
"The problem with describing eldritch entities is that the special effects are very bad. Bilocated entities existing on multiple planes reflect light that's not present; they look pasted-in. They move like a cross between bad puppetry and claymation... The effects are BAD, and it makes it worse."
Salty skeleton pirates for #swordtember. One thing I’ve learned about practicing art over the years is to follow the inspiration while you have it. I started on the daily prompts but then hit “crustacean” and it sent me back into these salty caverns and tide pools to see what else I can uncover.
On a roll with the crusty pirate ghosts, so I’m skipping around the Swordtember prompts a bit to dig into these characters. For the “tidepool” prompt, Here’s Fang the anglerfish cursed pirate wight. Another piece for Curs of the Humpback Coast from the 2025 Appx N Jam.
Swordtember 10: Crustacean
This pirate lobster wight is a character from The Curs of the Humpback Coast, my submission to the 2025 Appx N game jam on itch. The space was limited so I didn’t get to really fill out the illustrations, so this was a great excuse to bring him to life.
Our next double-feature: ROLLIN' WITH IT 🛼
The mechanical mailbag is open from now until the end of October!! Watch our upcoming movies & submit a related TTRPG idea (a thematic dice mechanic, overall elevator pitch, module, table...) & we might discuss it on the pod!

dwarves are little people made of metal. the older they are, the greener their skin (from the patina). when dwarves die, they are traditionally smelted and forged into weapons or armor to be passed on as family heirlooms.
Star Trek is great because one episode it'll be like "one horror of fascism is how it makes regular people complicit in genocide" and the next is like "uh oh don't touch the bleep blorps or they'll turn your spleen to goop!"
in this episode cmrn reads a letter tolkien wrote where he talks about how lore is beside the point of storytelling and he doesn't understand all the people asking him fine-grained questions about calendars and stuff and This Is The Truth They Have Hidden From You
Game where you propose an action, the GM tells you the basic outcome, you nod, then you roll on a table for weirdness.
Table goes 1-20, with petty stuff at low numbers, major swings (good AND bad) at high numbers.
You decide what size of die to roll.

This month, we read a series of "micro-games", which is only in quotes because we technically don't think one of them qualifies, but it's easier than saying "micro-games and also a one-pager".
Open this thread for the full list because there are 6 of them!
