lol "Her second biggest increase was in Brad's ward."
Chow performed better than 2023 in every ward, except 4. York Centre was really the only place where she saw a worse margin against Bradford than she did against Bailao. She ran up huge numbers in Downtown and Scarborough. Her second biggest increase was in Brad's ward.
Every time I read one of these tragic stories I’m struck by the tone of bullshittery AI takes—the exact voice you will recognize if you’ve ever had the misfortune of talking to a tech bro on a topic they don’t understand (or at all, tbh)
not sure “ah well this is an old version of chatgpt” is going to cut it here www.nytimes.com/2026/10/27/w...

You could already see the narrative developing during the live coverage last night that Chow had barely scraped by or struggled to overcome Bradford. The reality is that it wasn't even close. It was a decisive victory and Chow actually has a significant mandate.
I don't write fast & it's a challenge to respond to late-results in time for a print deadline (old school!) & (hopefully) have some value vs hot take. Anyway, here's mine w @thekeenanwire.bsky.social & @balkissoon.bsky.social. This victory gives Chow a ton of political capital. Time to spend it.

Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.
It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

"more votes than any Toronto mayoral candidate ever" how do you like them apples
Brad Bradford being graceful in defeat. Nice concession speech about the city coming together. His kids are cute. Impressive campaign really. Got more votes than John Tory did in 2022. But Olivia Chow got more votes than any Toronto mayoral candidate ever.

Actions speak louder than words, personally I was in talks with Epic to get all my game assets on their Fab.com marketplace (for free) but cancelled the deal immediately. If they want slop, let them have slop.
Between Tim Sweeney being an absolute AI chud and the harassment of our beloved @kenney.nl, we've decided to cancel our previously announced Epic Games Store release for Shape Sender Deluxe 🚮

If, in the decades preceding the introduction of the motor car there had been wildly popular and compelling sci-fi stories about wheeled metal carriages murdering people by the thousands, then Ford would've had a weekly announcement about how many children had been killed by cars that week

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

A capital finds a technology to make its labour more productive than that of other capitals. It makes a surplus profit. The technology becomes the new norm across all capitals. Surplus profit disappears. Expanding scale now only way to make bigger profit. Next technology comes along. Rinse & repeat.

What is there to say, really? Human culture is being sacrificed at the altar of capitalism. Bioware weathered over a decade of obvious mismanagement only to be shot in the head and dumped in a ditch because a leveraged buyout's goal is wealth extraction
