Let's talk a little more about Margaret Hamilton because she deserves it In 1961, Margaret Hamilton was tackling massive systems, having previously wrangled room-sized computers that blared like a foghorn whenever they crashed.

Does anyone remember a streaming radio station called "Signal Decay" from Live365 back in the mid-2000s? Played a lot of EBM, synthpop, futurepop. Every now and then I go looking for any details on it, but seems like bitrot ate everything

this is unexpectedly enticing to me, as a former guile main in high school

The ‘STREET FIGHTER’ popcorn bucket is Guile's hair. You can wear the bucket on your head.

Already posted this on Mastodon, but maybe folks here would appreciate this: I had a dream that the dairy industry somehow convinced investors that they were a trillion dollar concern.

Like, you remember all those TV commercials for drinking milk and eating cheese? Picture that, except taken to AI levels of hype. Dairy farms in every municipality instead of data centers. Dairy as an ingredient in everything - we went out for cocktails and my boulevardier had half-and-half in it.

Listening to bird song from a nest outside my window and I'm wondering what the world would be like if people just went outside and screamed to attract mates?

Today's distraction: building FujiGrid, a screenful of simultaneous Atari computer emulators. Pressing the S key enables sound for all of them at once, which is quite a cacophony

What this means is that just like you can have a variable named x in C++, you can have a variable named 7 in FORTRAN. Or, in this particular case, 3. Apparently, the original programmer got tired of typing pi. But instead of defining a variable named "pi" -- well. You can guess, can't you?

We made a fake repo with fake bounties, and the bots are applying fake PRs, so we know who is fake, and we can ban them from the Coolify repo. IQ over 1000

deleted the thread about the anthropic marketing paper. read blindsight and echopraxia so you too can imagine scary things and post about them in ways that make people misunderstand what you're getting at or think you've bought into the worldview they're pushing for marketing

Here's an easter egg in the new Lego Batman that I think all of you will REALLY appreciate. It's so good, I had to make a video.

Not for nothing, but the sequel to Space Opera is about one belligerent species cheating at the Metagalactic Grand Prix & the Galactic Broadcasting Union just letting it happen due to total bureaucratic paralysis in the face of literally any issue. I wrote it in 2021-22 & yes I do tarot readings

It makes me sick. That something so beautiful & precious is being ruined by one bad actor the org refuses to deal with. But I can’t. I wrote books. Please read the books. Because when I don’t live tweet it the sales plummet. But I told you. In the first chapter I told you. amzn.to/4fgblZW

One of the points I tried to make clear in having this conversation was: I’m not a radical. I am a *boring middle-aged dad*, who’s raised tens of millions of dollars in venture capital, and worked in tech for decades. I have not lost my mind, or become an extremist. THEY DID.
