Everyone comes from Somewhere, The tall and small alike. Everyone comes from Somewhere, Even people we don’t like. Close your eyes and think of Somewhere, See the Sun, the Sky, the Light. Close your eyes and think of Somewhere, Homes where we sleep at night.

1/ 1318 meetings with fossil fuel lobbyists in Mark Carney’s first year in office. Another summer of Canada burning. It’s clear whose interest this pipeline is actually in, and it sure isn’t Canadians'.

“Here’s what we found: Every additional 100kg of vehicle weight was associated with a 6% increase in odds of pedestrian fatality. Every additional 10cm of height was associated with an 11% increase in odds of pedestrian fatality. The relationship was even stronger in lower-speed environments.”

A wave of progressive populism is defying political gravity (ie big money) and upending primary season in the US. It’s exhilarating to witness. 🧵

At this point I’m almost wondering if a Conservative minority government would’ve been less harmful, if only because they’d be less effective at implementing the same policies. The pushback would be louder, there’d be checks and balances. But Carney is bulldozing Canada with conservative reforms…

Like that’s definitely what he’s doing, I’d put money on it. Whenever he uses his shock doctrine framing (the world is changing! We have to do urgent things!) you know he’s up to some undemocratic, pro-corporate bullshit that Canadians wouldn’t normally accept.

When the government claims TMX is mega profitable (Tim Hodgson keeps saying $1 billion a year), remember that we BOUGHT IT for $34 billion. So it won’t be profitable for *34 years* at this rate, and that’s if oil demand doesn’t decline! (It will!) It very likely will NEVER be profitable:

The Great Once, threw away his legacy in the Canadian mass consciousness to cozy up to a geriatric pedophil.

Very funny to hear an entire sports bar in Canada boo the mere sight of Wayne Gretzky

It is astounding to me that people today, yes real people and people who are otherwise non politically engaged, think Elon Musk is some sort of engineering genius. After Doge cuts, not understanding how space and temperature work, and a blatant white supremacist project.

If all my taxes are going to build the "Boil the oceans pipeline" I really don't want to be paying my taxes anymore. Every year it's less and less for healthcare and education or roads and more and more just money to build the newest war crimes or man made environmental catastrophes.

Mark Carney is undermining the rule of law is with various pieces of legislation that let politicians unilaterally declare exceptions to various laws. So Canada is becoming a place where the current government picks and chooses where, when, & to whom our laws will or won't apply. 🧵1/
