A few years ago I designed the original logo for @designtokens.org. Recently they asked me to refresh it: simpler, more versatile, and blue (the original color of links). The new logo builds on the old one, keeping the connected core while refining it for any size or use.

I love design systems, but phew, design tokens used to *really* intimidate me. They vary by team and get complex fast! But after two years of working closely with engineers, I now see them as one of the best tools we have for bridging the gap between design & code and bringing teams together. 🎨🧑‍💻

Last week marked the end of my journey at @netlify.com. For the past two and a half years, I had the privilege of collaborating with top industry leaders who share my passion for the open web, open-source, and a diverse frontend ecosystem.

Continuing on my path to making the web better, I’m now looking for an organization who needs help operationalizing excellence in frontend and product design so we can ship world-class experiences together 🚀

You are: - in the Seattle area - working on design systems? - free tomorrow night? Come over, @jina.social and I are hosting a dinner at mine! 🏙️ Kirkland (near Juanita Beach) 🕰️ 6-9pm Spots limited, RSVP at kaelig@deloumeau.fr or on the Design Systems Slack.

I've been using AI to accelerate frontend tasks I'm an expert on, and it's going so well that I've grown over confident in AI's coding capabilities. When I then used AI to solve a problem I'm very unfamiliar with, the code I submitted for review was embarrassingly sloppy 😓 Sorry, reviewers 😕

Lately I’ve been dropping JavaScript files onto ChatGPT and asking her to explain what the file does and how that gets rendered into the UI. Game changer for me.

Are you team light mode or dark mode?

PMs are using v0 (and similar) more and more to prototype entire features. This trend will deeply impact relationships & processes across design, product, and engineering. Fellow designers and engineers: try these tools, push their boundaries, and be the one who shapes how your role evolves.
