Losing a pet that you love is incredibly painful. They aren’t just animals they are family, they become so intertwined with your life. Their absence is crushing. I wrote a piece to process and honor Sammie’s life. If you are a dog owner you may enjoy it. www.imkylelambert.com/articles/my-...

Goodbye Samurai Warrior Princess 💔 You were the sweetest girl. You loved us so well. 16 years with you wasn’t enough. We didn’t deserve you. Cuddle and feast with Chainsaw in heaven. I can’t believe my babies are gone. I hate it. RIP

Your corporate organization doesn’t care about you. People at your organization may. But your organization doesn’t.

I’m a big fan of Loom videos, I watch & record a ton of them. I’ve always wanted the same functionality that YouTube has: Long-press your mouse while the video is playing to temporarily increase playback speed. So I built a Chrome Extension you can run in dev mode. github.com/kslambert/Sp...

My advice for folks in tech who want to stay in tech: If you’re at a company who won’t let you work with and experiment with AI tools and workflows… get out. Even if it’s a pay cut, get out. How we work is changing. Find a place that will help you navigate this change.

I’ve been working on a CLI at work. Figma is terrible for designing a CLI and trying to work on flows and styles within a dev environment isn’t great either… so I started vibe coding a CLI design tool. It feels magical to build niche tools and utilities!

Finally getting around to reading Red Rising. My friends have been pushing it for years. I’m more of a fantasy reader and I thought this was going to feel sci fi heavy. It’s very good and I am realizing I owe my friends an apology for being stubborn.

I started vibe coding a mini design tool. A CLI workflow designer. It’s so helpful to build workflows and have a GUI to mess with CLI designs! I’m hooked.

I heard a term today that resonated: “Faux productivity” Even with all the technological leaps most software leaves us in this state.

We all have our own paths to walk, but if you’re a designer unwilling to invest in new skills and technology, here is my advice: Research graphic design’s transition to computers in the 80’s. Or prints transition to digital being prominent. These shifts leave folks behind.

Sometimes AI just shows up. My 3 year old son’s current obsessions include cherry picker trucks and ballerinas. So I prompted ChatGPT to generate a coloring sheet. He’s going to flip when he sees it.

I read a ton of fantasy. I decided to give writing it a go over my vacation. Who knows where this will go? A short story, a book, a forgotten file on my Drive… No matter what it’s been a fun practice. Here’s the start of something I’m working on.

Stay at a job because you like your coworkers, you enjoy the work, you are growing. Don’t stay at a job because “you feel loyal.” Executives and Boards won’t hesitate to eliminate your role if they see an upside to their bottom line.

I also have a shortcut that switches my background to a dark background based on the time of day These small changes reduced my random app opens quite a bit Now I typically only reach for Apps that aren't on my home screen when I need them

Recruiter: We’re on a mission to revolutionize… Chat GPT can you interpret this for me? “Sure, Acme Corp builds enterprise software tools”

I want messaging apps to have a better experience when you miss a bunch of messages. scenario: your friends group chat blows up, you see 65 notifications 👀 half of these are Apple reactions. Then you are thrown into a giant thread vs any kinda of focused what did you missed experience.

You know you’re working at a growing company when someone new starts with a job title so confusing you can't even guess what they actually do.

With all the AI hype we are inundated with I believe it’s wise to read skeptics views. It helps us raise healthy questions, this piece raises a lot of questions that many are sweeping under the rug. www.wheresyoured.at/longcon/
