Woz is a gem. When I was at Berkeley and wrote for the school paper, he was a commencement speaker. I sent him a list of questions ahead of his talk, expecting no response. Instead, he wrote a lengthy answer to each and included a photo I could use for the article.

Typical Woz, the photo was of him having a cream pie smashed to the side of his head, while he wore a grin. His request: Run the photo with the caption, "Apple Pie In Ear". I drafted the email-based Q&A and submitted the photo, which a copy editor ignored for something much more bland.

Last year, he attended the 40th anniversary of the Mac celebration at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. I was able to introduce myself and asked him sign an original Macintosh manual I took along from a friend. With no hesitation, he scrawled "Woz" on its inside page. Good guy Woz.
