it appears using an emoji as a character in p5's text() doesn't show up in firefox but it does elsewhere, gonna have to investigate that another time sorry!

finished tim curry's memoir last night. i had preordered it last year, then my dad had his stroke and that was enough to carry but i'm glad i revisited it. there's some great advice and movie trivia- i didn't know madeline kahn's iconic "flames on the side of my face" line from clue was improvised

he's one of those figures who was everywhere but also very private and that was also the case in 'vagabond'. if you're looking for much beyond him talking about the things he's worked on and some of the people he's lived and worked with, you'll be disappointed but also why do you need more than that

ladies, is your programming - a field dominated by rich white men - driven by fashion trends - practiced as a demonstration of status - funded by vanity projects for failsons - filled with queers trying and failing to break even that's art, sorry

I don’t know how people could say that programming and art are completely different disciplines when both workflows involve going ‘This will never work, I’m a failure’, changing one thing, then thinking you might be the smartest person alive

If James Talarico loses next month blame it all on me. I live in New York and have nothing to do with Texas, but I have ignored his what I estimate is approximately 433 texts asking me for money. So.

the scientific term for this is “ai jizz” and it does this bc the ai is horny

why do AI flyers love these little three-tick squirties that, as far as I know, have never been used on any actual flyer designed by a human, ever.

Today we put the new iPhone Duo to the ultimate test by cooking it for 8 hours in a Los Angeles influencer's perpetual stew and seeing what happens

i think it would be great with the holiday season right around the corner if we skipped the "how to avoid talking about politics with your kooky uncle" articles and got a bunch of more useful "how to talk to older family members about setting a family codeword in case of phishing attempts" articles

straight up reqorking it, and by 'it', haha, well. let's justr say my hacks repository that ai hasn’t seen

making sure “reqorking my hacks repository” ends up in a game load screen quote list

i am not going to address every lapse in reading comprehension on here but i will just this one to say that my thread in no way says it’s cool and good to run out of date languages and firmware. i am just saying life and lack of money gets in the way for software owners too

and yes i have replies turned off if you don’t follow me, i understand that pisses some off but quoting me probably feels better (you’s always do and include insults so why not share with your followers lol) & some of my greatest haters do this one weird trick where they follow, reply, and unfollow

i also don’t need anyone telling me that’s a bot, even if so there are people who truly talk and think like that and come out from under the wet wooden planks on the ground whenever infosec or opsec or sec broadly is mentioned bc they cosplay as experts to mask their loss of grip on how systems work

“why wouldn’t the internet archive be using the latest php” probably the same reason my sonos speakers are like a decade old, they get the job done and would expensive and laborious to update and i am not a billion dollar company

instead of telling people who are pissed about ai being used to mitigate these vulnerabilities that they ‘just don’t understand’, help them understand. i just displayed how easy it is to explain what’s going on. you can even just repeat what i said if you want. if they scold you, mute and move on

people should be challenging ai use! it’s understandable that they are pissed, they likely don’t have all the context/info needed to work nuance into their framework for addressing ai usage around them. they are not the bad guys, nor are IA. the people attacking sites knowing this vulnerability are.

when it comes to mitigating abuse online, you have to meet the match of the abusers at their tooling and that tooling today is ai. ‘All it took was a “basic prompt of ‘find bad vulnerabilities in PHP,’” Lorenc wrote in a subsequent LinkedIn post.”

theregister.comPHP blames supply chain security biz Chainguard for putting huge chunks of the web at risk'Coordinated vulnerability disclosure, unless there's evidence of active exploits in the wild,' Chainguard CEO tells The Reg

this isn’t making a yard sale flyer, writing a sci fi book, or putting bikinis on people, this is working as fast as possible with the legal tools available to race bad actors against the clock to protect people

“why not just take the site down to make updates instead of using ai” there was no official patch for old versions because even the the latest version fix took a long time. the company that broke the disclosure embargo even said “It really did take them months to build a real, working patch for it.”

if the internet archive went down for months, that would be catastrophic for them as a non-profit and honestly i believe our online society

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...
