I keep coming back to these posts, as they feel emblematic of the rot at the heart of Bun. It’s always been a collection of stealthily forked open source libraries, but AI has really accelerated the copying. It’s very easy to build software when someone else has done the work, yes.

Like, Anthropic gives them infinite tokens to do whatever they want, and what they want is to get credit for other people’s work

Finally, at the cost of merely all the world’s resources, we have the technology to rewrite a Rust library in Rust

Anyway, it’s been such a valuable part of the community and I’m glad to see it continuing in good hands

I think an underrated runner over the next few years will be “things John Ternus thinks are Tim Cook jobs”

for those only dimly aware of cybersecurity people screaming, "a security certificate which underpins the entire internet used '4' for a private key that is supposed to be 116 digits long" and "a popular web language lets anyone run code on your server" are two different issues from the same day

I turn over my traitors voting slate. It just has a meaningless string of vowels on it. I can hear Claudia loudly mutter “For fuck’s sake” behind me.

Extra Geography: as ever, I assume this is what every school is like, and will not be double checking

Being a bit glib (as that is what this site is for). It is sticking with me. All adolescent discovery of emotion, pressed down, then overflowing uncontrolled. Really charmed by it.

Intermittently I get a fit of the bleak giggles thinking about how much poorer the Iran war has made all of us. Bills and inflation going up on the theory of “drop a few bombs, magic happens, Reza Pahlavi comes back”.

movie about a time traveler going back to 1999 to convince everybody working in y2k prevention to just let the computers die

- Nice to see a smart bit of traitor play - You have to do the obvious banishment - Maybe the most cogent bit of analysis we’ve ever seen at the round table at the end there - Sadly that means they should be murdered

also thinking a lot about how #MeToo apparently went too far, when it’s quite obvious now that it didn’t go far enough. it didn’t really go anywhere. there were no lasting consequences of that cultural moment beyond people making jokes about it.

Having real #MeToo flashbacks today, what with various news stories going around, and thinking a lot about how women were encouraged to rip themselves open and show off our trauma, in all its Technicolor glory, so that men might begin to believe us

I think its important to understand the campus sexual assault crisis is way worse than you think. universities suspend just 1/12,400 students each year for sexual misconduct & expel 1/22,900. once you read title ix administrators in their own words, you get a sense why that is:

Maybe we need to let the team have a go at the half-time Gunnersaurus penalties to regain some confidence in front of goal

Well, maybe apart from Foord, who had the kind of day where you wouldn’t be surprised if she put it in her own net

I actually think it was a pretty good performance, outside of the tiny fatal flaw that none of our players looked like scoring

Bad Apples: exactly the film that “Saoirse Ronan kidnaps a child to avoid a bad Ofsted rating” suggests. A good time for all.

If Elon Musk and half the Tesla C-Suite were currently in jail because Grok spent weeks generating CSAM-on-demand while they memed about it, Altman and the rest might be a bit more cautious about letting their little robots commit share price friendly press releasable crimes.

I do think you basically charge a few of them with the cybercrimes they're committing and the "alignment" problem does suddenly start to disappear.

Please, Arsenal fans, stop complaining about PGMOL being corrupt, it’s making us look bad. They’re “ProRef” now

(in the family group chat): that wont matter. without radical change all of this is meaningless in fifteen years. we have no idea how dire things are (in the communist group chat): they should make a turn based final fantasy again with the two minute summon animations
