Please, Cybersecurity Awareness Month Committee, you win. Make it stop. We’ve never been more aware.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and I think it's working!

~~rewrite everything from scratch~~ make everything interoperate

patak@patak.cat

no, we don't need to rebuild everything from scratch. we spent decades improving our stack, building on others' successes and lessons, weaving a huge web of trust between teams that depend on each other. a clean slate disrupting it all isn't progress; the process and people are what matter

On God I just did this for half an hour while rewatching Voyager and hoo boy my back has never been backier

i see people ask “what do folks do while their agent is working?” did you know that Yin Yoga is all centered around restorative holds? and after 10-30 years of working at a desk your body is probably aching for some mobility work? <me> fix this big while i hold this stretch for 12 minutes

On a serious note, times are hard and I would very much appreciate any financial support. Even small ongoing sponsorships would go a long way 💙

Hey! I'm a community leader for @jj-vcs.dev and have my irons in about 700 different fires at a time. If you like what I do and are interested in sponsoring me github.com/sponsors/ico... is a great place to support me long term (or ko-fi.com/icorbrey for a one-time kinda deal)

My general advice for using AI for any purpose is to ask yourself: "how do I make what I am doing even more ambitious?" You do this over and over until you either hit a wall and thus learn the shape of the jagged frontier (useful!) or you find out that the AI can do more than you think (common!)

Gleam by contrast is very pleasant to read and write and IMO is a great complement to Rust as a toy language for me. Needs a couple tweaks for my liking but nothing drastic

Just got my first real sale for @avette.eu ✨ super super happy about it. It's a dictation app for macOS, the productized version of what I've been using for a year. It's really very good, I encourage you to download and try it out, should be fresh air after whisper/parakeet/apple stuff x)
