i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

read that sentence. it is a description of political persecution. anyone giving this the time of day as a serious legal case is a fool.

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

The New York Times has a choice of whether to cover Trumpism as A) an amusing and colorful example of the oddity of American politics, or B) an existential threat to the future of everyone you know and love. Over and over, they choose A. They trivialize themselves.

In excusable, nostalgia drenched coverage in lieu of exacting account of mentally unstable rants. This is truly reprehensible non-journalism. See: www.contrariannews.org/p/you-can-he...

I am driven to distraction by how *not angry* so many of my electeds seem. When they sit around and blab about policy this and policy that and blah blah blah, what I hear is "This is an interesting intellectual exercise for me." You should be barely able to contain yourself in public.

The incredible reaction to Jon Ossoff saying just one word about our emperor's new clothes -- "Natalie" -- shows what Democrats can do if they just speak the truth about what all of us can see with our own eyes

tfw you have no idea that conservatives have been saying since the 1970s that if you have accessible and pleasant comms people, then "objective" journalists are easy to manipulate into thinking power and the disempowered are equal.

Weird how the NYT can presume Trump is grieving, but can never presume he’s lying.

The Democratic presidential debates need to have spring loaded traps underneath each candidate and any time one of them says "we need to move on" or "I'm focused on the future, not the past" they should be immediately launched through the roof of the auditorium.

My takeaway from that speech is that we are headed down the road of Trump trying to outright rig elections. It probably won't work, but he's going for it.

This point needs to be made over and again: The main purpose of wealth taxes should not be to raise revenue. That's a small and secondary benefit. The main purpose should be to *reduce the fortunes of the ultrarich*. Why? Because those fortunes present a massive threat to democracy and public life.

THE US HAVING A WHITES-ONLY REFUGEE POLICY SHOULD BE A MUCH BIGGER STORY

Alex Ip 葉清霖@alexip718.com

BREAKING: in June 2026, *every single one* of the 1,062 refugees admitted in the U.S. were white South Africans. In FY 2026, the U.S. has admitted a total of 7,727 white South Africans, three Afghans (back in November), and nobody else. For reference, the U.S. admitted 100,060 refugees in 2024.

Shipping companies say the Strait of Hormuz is closed. A guy who shits himself in public and thinks people should drink bleach says it is open. For busy American motorists, it can be hard to know who to trust.

🚨 We analyzed the Supreme Court’s decisions over the past 20 years and found that for the first time, the court issued more consequential rulings on its “shadow docket” (unsigned orders often decided without arguments) than the traditional merits docket. www.propublica.org/article/supr...

Lander on comparisons between his flank of the Democratic Party and the Tea Party: "We're joyful about what it looks like to deliver. That is very different energy than what the Tea Party brought. We want to build something, not just break something."

I can see flaws these rules, but at the same time, these are some of the most are interesting ideas I’ve seen for breaking the cycle of compulsive behavior. How else can we possibly break free? Open to ideas…

I remain of the view that regulation of social media is better than a ban for young people. But I also pretty much agree with all these proposals.

We're used to conservatives claiming people protesting ICE (and getting gassed and beaten and killed for it) are violent mobs. Now HERE's a REAL violent mob - sicced on brown people by Hitler-saluting Elon Musk - and they've been downgraded by the Prestige Press to "protestors." It's too obvious.

Gillian Brockell@gillianbrockell.com

They are not protesters, they are rioters, violent mobs, etc. This also leaves out that they attacked multiple immigrant families and set their homes on fire. There is video. Those are factual statements. You do not have to abandon your self-destructive commitment to "objectivity" to report that.
