After giving it a day, I’ve changed my position slightly. Fire Jason Beck into the Oort Cloud. Can’t risk missing the sun and having him slingshot back to Earth.

Fire Jason Beck into the goddamn sun.

Trip times for the 2nd Amtrak Pennsylvanian service released, begins on November 18th. Eastbound times are pretty similar to my schedule crayon I did a few months ago. Westbound times are further apart from my guess. Existing 42/43 schedules change too.🚆

Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: A chief technology officer is worried about keeping his spreadsheets private.

If pedestrians or bicyclists wearing headphones is an issue then drivers using their car audio systems is also an issue. Where's the PSA telling people to drive with sound off and windows down so they are more aware of what's happening around them?

Binghamton should pursue Scranton extension, but Lackawanna Cutoff is ~a decade away. In the meantime, for a couple hundred million, it could extend a few Metro North Port Jervis Line trips within a couple years. Here's a mock schedule based on current MN trips. Much more below👇

What are we gonna do with the knowledge that Christopher Nolan’s favorite James Bond is Timothy Dalton?

We're covering the whole thing with a G scale model railroad.

The best stock photo sources these days are very specific people who take photos of very specific things. This guy takes pictures of trains. All trains all the time. Only trains. Do I have to worry that one of these photos is AI? Nope. He would never disrespect a real train in that way.

1989's Killer Crocodile. Also, that's a surprisingly weak year for me given that I seriously considered Chopper Chicks in Zombietown. Society didn't do much for me.

Rest in peace Mickey Lolich. This is when my brother and I met him at his Lake Orion donut shop in early 1984. He wasn't even at the shop that day but when we showed up they called him and he came in anyway because a couple of kids wanted to meet him. He was a hell of a nice guy.

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

marykmac.bsky.social@marykmac.bsky.social

yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

This thread applies to far more than just gaming. If you have a public-facing facility and aren't asking people who display antisocial behaviors to leave, pretty soon all you are going to have are the antisocial customers.

I spent an excessive number of years moderating a gaming forum and I learned a great deal about community spaces and cultivation, whether I wanted to or not. I have critical advice for anyone who runs a game store or gaming convention. Please share this thread with people who run those things.
