Now that you've seen years of "AI exec says within 5 years everyone will be using AI" you're ready for the next week of "political operative says constituency they specialize in is at risk of not turning out"

BTW Harris County in particular is showing good EV numbers for its most Democratic precincts. It would not be doing that if Talarico were having issues with turning out Black voters (or at least his issues are no worse than Kamala's or Beto's)

While everyone knows that there's an M and a B hidden in the Brewers logo, most people don't realize that there's a T and a B hidden in Tropicana Field. That's right, Ron DeSantis brought tuberculosis back to Florida.

a weird set of people who only exist online are people who celebrate the defeat of global fascism in every other country and are then horrified and appalled at the idea that they should also be expected to vote for their domestic opponent of global fascism if some of their stances are Problematic

Every clip I see about Bauza is so heartbreaking, he seems like such an amazing dude. Also, we gotta bring back using voice actors for animated shows and not just celebrities looking for an easy buck.

big failure from the NBA to not get two of its teams to move one (1) regular season game. the NBA owns 42% of the WNBA (functionally more, since a lot of NBA owners own teams) and should be invested in wanting the league to grow, even at minor expense to its more popular product

Alexa Philippou@alexaphilippou.bsky.social

BREAKING: Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be held Thursday at 12:30pm ET at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne. It will be a double-header with the Atlanta Hawks’ game, which will be moved to 8pm.

Trump was "an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of young women in the 90s” according to a report issued today by Dems on the House Judiciary Committee. The report includes one new rape allegation against Trump, and calls for a special investigation of the Trump administration's cover-up.

Not that it's the point of this to inform but none of these people really know how elections work

Jim Swift@jimswift.bsky.social

While I have election night plans already, I would have a hard time missing this all star cast.

Like, there are right wing election geeks! Most of them are not exactly photogenic but you could probably find one who is. But instead of analyzing the election this is going to be talking about the DSA for 4 hours.

Are you a bad enough dude to defeat me? Also I already forgot who I picked to win

How you know Election Day is almost upon us: It's time for The Downballot's annual prediction contest, with prizes sponsored by the gloriously delicious GreensBabka.com! And this year's contest is bigger and badder than ever. Click below for full details & a link to submit your guesses. Good luck!

Yes you are allowed to care about Brazilian elections. But the fact that US politics have become an MMORPG for right wing Twitter users is actually a negative development. And aren't you, an American, tired of hearing from Canadian Bluesky users about how we're on the verge of dictatorship?

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

I think this becomes quite understandable in the context of an international fascist movement that has swept much of the planet in a decade, with horrifying and very extreme consequences for the entire species

for those of you unfamiliar, the most powerful social unit in Cincinnati is your high school class, which outranks friends, family, even lovers

Kirsten Bladh@kerstanley.bsky.social

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

I knew someone who went to Harvard with him and said the only thing he'd trust Kushner to broker a deal for is cocaine

memba when Kushner got into Harvard because Dad did the 'Yale needs an international airport' manuever

I knew someone like this who actually didn't even apply, she just started going to school there.

Very funny that Jones is mad about a vote drop that decreased Lula's margin because he doesn't understand that in most of the rest of the world the right wing party is blue and the left wing party is red.

If Americans need our little southern recipe for how to defeat fascism it goes like this: - Put people in the streets by standing for popular demands (wages, healthcare, public services) - Do not engage with fascists online - Do not succumb to doomsayers or media-driven narratives - Be happy

Ben Collins@bencollins.bsky.social

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Repro isn't coming up as much in this election but at the state level in places like Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina and Georgia it's still an issue

People don’t understand why I keep noting that BlueSky is not a bubble, it is a counterpublic. It serves its own organizational function: you can see in realtime in January 2025, on multiple types of social media, shouting that an executive order is instruction to an agency. This one stuck.

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.
