The citizen who yelled "Shove that ballroom up your fat ass" is, in this hard time, a patriot. Honestly, what is left to say about this level of misrule? What careful critique hasn't been already offered? What reasoned response to this full-on run at fascism and kleptocracy remained unspoken?

More people on Bluesky should think carefully about engaging with small I'm-not-voting accounts that become more active after Labor Day in an election year. They're not trying to win the argument, they just want to have the argument and boost visibility.

We need this. Give these folks a follow.

Even France24 is kind of downplaying that this was a direct attack on Muslims, but they do have the story prominently displayed. I'm not seeing much about it in my normal news sources, if anything at all. Maybe it's not as convenient when the victims are the immigrants you're trying to demonize.

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

I saw enough mentions of Ethan Klein in my timelines (And then saw he's 'trending') to google to see who he is. Ugh. Some podcaster who looks like such a choad in the first story that came up that it's hard to fathom why someone would want to bother having an affair with him.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

For Africa, climate change is not about the future. It's about now. Our crops failing, our lakes shrinking, our people displaced — while boardrooms thousands of miles away count record profits. We don't have a climate problem. We have a justice problem. #ClimateJustice

The only benefit to my stupidly expensive healthcare premiums in this job (the most expensive I've ever had by far) is that if I'm laid off, COBRA won't be as much of a shock as it was last time because I'm already paying most of the premium myself with little 'subsidy' from my employer.

As the contract that all of us "staff augmentation" workers work under goes out for bid again before year's end, I suspect I'll end up with even less of a subsidy from my employer or possibly no subsidy at all.

Two days of detassling corn when I was 12 years old. Forever and always fuck child labor, especially agricultural labor. 2 months at a dotcom SEO company in 2000 where the expectation was you'd be in the office 70 hours a week, whether you had work to do or not playing ping pong or foosball.

And I just looked up that dotcom. It is still alive, calls itself a "global digital marketing agency" has 2200 employees and is owned by a larger foreign company. I had to do a small amount of double checking to be pretty sure it's the same company and not someone who just grabbed up the name.

I say we take them at their word and put a permanent ban on new data centers since it'll just replicate across IOT devices. There's no need for all that environmental destruction now, right?
