"if this story is 10k words or shorter, I'll give it away for free to my newsletter subscribers, but if it's 20k words or longer, I'll publish it and sell it" guess how long the story turned out? 15k words

on it 🫡

For the uninitiated, Wisconsin Gothic books are mythological urban fantasies/queer historical romances set in Wisconsin in the 1960s/70s. A few of them have been shortlisted for major awards, including a Lammy. Five books and a novella (+some free shorts) out so far, with book 6 due in...February?

Okay, since it's Halloween Week, I've put all the Wisconsin Gothic ebooks on sale for 50% off (or get them all for $13.44). This will run until 11/4, in case you are slightly late catching the spookies. (Paperbacks not included, sorry.) itch.io/s/211397/hal... #romancelandia #booksky

you cannot get at it

And now back to my full time job, texting the word "stop" to every living Democrat.

"four hundred interlocking parts make an absurd Rube Goldberg machine for showing your dad that you’re a man now and can be trusted with galactic diplomacy". Best description of the Vor Game, ever!

This contains the best description of Miles Vorkosigan I've ever heard: "he finds trouble like he’s rolling up a giant Katamari Damacy ball of it." Well said!

also highly recommend checking out her books, such as the very sexy and very French SCANDALOUS LETTERS OF V & J and let me tell you the bar is very high for me, an French, to be wowed by how French a book written by an American is. But this book is SO FRENCH. in the best way.

if you like learning New Facts and/or getting great romance recommendations and are not subscribed to Felicia Davin's newsletter I highly recommend you fix that, it is a *delight*

It is always a wild and amazing day when I open my email to find Felicia has reviewed one of my novels! Just when I'm working on the next Laz book, too. 🧡

always love this newsletter but the Voynich discussion is a particular joy

i think we all can agree

extra-long newsletter because I needed to tell you about Wilfrid Voynich and Cordelia Vorkosigan (separately), and, of course, romance novels www.feliciadavin.com/having-been-...

October is Black Speculative Fiction Month, hurray! So here's a thread of some of my absolute FAVORITE speculative fiction books by Black creators. Novels, graphic novels, even picture books for the littlest readers (or adults like me who love picture books). And I want to hear your faves too!

wow, huge congrats to Brasil and Serbia today

BRASILLLLLLLLLLLL 🇧🇷 🇧🇷 🇧🇷

It's the wind blowing free it's the end of the slope It's a beam, it's a void it's a hunch, it's a hope youtu.be/E1tOV7y94DY?...

That's the root of fascism, to be perfectly frank. If you can look at a person and due to disability, or appearance, or weight, or the thought of them having sex makes you go EWWWWW, you are dancing right up next to "that is an incorrect human".

I found a nest of transphobes who need to hear this and now will not because I am on a blocking spree but I'm going to say it for any I miss: If someone's physical body disgusts you, that is a problem with YOU.

re lrp: I read something on a fat acceptance blog long ago which I try to do sometimes: when I am on public transport or have an idle moment at my job, I look at people around me and imagine what that person would look like to me if I was someone who knew and loved them.

Word Suitcase is a little delayed because I had to spend some time this week getting mad in my local paper about some union-busting bullshit that's going down here 🙃

I wrote a MMF romantasy novella last year despite having little background in fantasy beyond some GoT Tyrion/Sansa fics on AO3. I'm fairly certain I put in more effort than James Patterson. Queen/bodyguards, South Asian-ish world, weirdly inspired by The X-Files S8. books2read.com/u/47aYWq

THE UNCONTINENTED STARS is in this!! check it out 💙📚 🌌🚀

I'm sure someone has said this before me, but people used to smoke indoors, like at restaurants, and even if you didn't sit in the smoking section it would stick on your clothes and hair. It sucked.

#fridayFling "Warning." Honestly, every time I can work in the word "fella," it is the most hilarious possible sentence to me.

Today’s #FridayFling snippet is from BOOKS & BROADSWORDS! The hardest question in the world: “What is your favorite book?” Luckily, Feora knows exactly how to dodge it. :) Prompt: “warning” First chapters + buy links: miha.li/BaB #Romancelandia #Books

It's #FridayFling o'clock, and I'm pulling from Nobody's Bargain. In which a washed-up 56-year-old rock musician and a 37-year-old writer and DV survivor find connection via steamy sex—and perhaps find themselves in the process. #romancelandia Buy links: books2read.com/u/bxD0no

This week's #FridayFling prompt is "warning," and going with a vibes-based rather than literal approach, here's a snippet from my cozy-spooky romantasy novella A Waltz of Sinister Import, which is out now in ebook and paperback! books2read.com/waltzSinister #romancelandia

#FridayFling "warning"

#FridayFling "warning" just two men telling lies at each other

Every Friday, share a #FridayFling snippet from your WIP or published work. :) This week’s prompt is WARNING! You don’t have to match it exactly, just go with vibes. And if it’s published, drop a link in the post or a reply so people can find it! #Romancelandia #Books
