The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

I’ve just thought of a great name for the new hopping Tesla Roadster - the Toadster! It was actually a typo but then I realised it was apropos.

It’s amazing how many people are merely simulating being literate.

I'm curious. What other countries live stream public executions? What sort of special club is the US joining by choosing this path of obscenity?

My Australian event schedule for MASSIF. A corrected version of my Australian tour graphic, as the previous one had the wrong Robinsons store. It will be Glen Waverley, not Frankston. UK details coming soon. No US tour this year, my apologies. www.allenandunwinblog.com/events/garth...

First event of the MASSIF tour done! Thanks to everyone who came along last night, thank you Siana from Dillons, Beth from Payneham Library, and my conversation partner @adelaidesean.bsky.social Next up Books in Bars at Waurn Ponds tonight!

I find it fascinating that on a crowded rush hour bus, I still have a seat free beside me, with people preferring to stand. I think it’s because I always wear a mask on the bus.

Things have become more interesting now that food companies have introduced the concept of loot boxes into their products. Will this pack contain a parasite? A deadly bacteria? A human thumb? Step right up and try your luck!

If consumer smart glasses must exist, then it should not be a technical issue for the software installed to recognize a "Do Not Record Me" command from someone in their frame and automatically block recording. That at least should kill demand from people using them to harass others.

@ivalaine.bsky.social This may explain some things?

A new study shows that among people hospitalized with COVID19, other viruses such as EBV, HSV1, and CMV may be reactivated. This effect isn’t limited to those who are immunocompromised, either. So if you’re wondering why I’m still masking indoors in public, have a read.

I just looked up the publication date of the Chronicles of Narnia after thinking about the teacher who loaned me the copies I first read. The first book was about 39 years old at the time, and it has been about 39 years since I read it.

Thought this was a great picture of our two cats playing. Cleo is a 15 year old distinguished lady of the house and Nyx is approaching 2 and still has the joie de vivre. Here she is, wide eyed and preparing to launch herself from the tunnel, while Cleo watches carefully, fully aware of her antics.

My experience of the posting game: you spend half an hour carefully crafting a joke and it gets two pity likes. Toss out any old crap after four seconds’ thought and it eventually winds up on knowyourmeme. knowyourmeme.com/memes/curtai...

knowyourmeme.comCurtains For Zoosha | Know Your MemeCurtains For Zoosha is a catchphrase referencing a viral X / Twitter post by @OwensDamien where he satirizes Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang and celebrity-focuse

Surely the solution here is just *don't use AI tools* for your writing and research and continue to do your writing and research in ALL the ways you were doing it before you started using AI instead of doing the work??

I started a D&D campaign, playing a session a month with a group of friends, two of whom are seasoned players. I’m using a campaign book. The material I planned for 1 session has so far stretched into 3 sessions, which has made life much easier than expected!

True story. When Lionel Messi was 20yo & played for Barcelona. Lamine Jamal Parents won a UNICEF photo shoot competition. Where Messi was bathing Baby Lamine. 19y later, Lamine was playing in WC Final for Spain & beat Messi. Messi was crying like a baby after. So Lamine baths Baby Messi

Just rewatching “Flight of The Navigator” for the first time in 40 years and spotted a huge plot hole. Why does the delivery robot that the kid escapes in have a window *and* why does it immediately take him to the secret warehouse with the spaceship? I just can’t take it seriously.

Hands up who started watching Apples “Invasion” simply because they saw Sam Neill in the promo, only to witness him being vanished in the first episode. Then watching for his return only to sorely disappointed?
