Compare Alito's description of Trump's racist statements (on the left) to Justice Kagan's anthology of Trump's racist statements (on the right). These are passages from this morning's opinions in Mullin v. Doe.

I've seen memes to this effect as well. Where, beyond mere wishful thinking, the idea came from that we could impeach and remove Trump, VP Vance, and all Trump's officials en masse at one time is beyond me.

A friendly reminder that Article II Section 4 does NOT say that if you impeach and remove a POTUS, that the VP and the cabinet are also automatically impeached. This section simply lists all the positions subject to impeachment.

Very important reading about the history and legacy of the civil rights movement and what it means for us today. Thank you, Kevin Kruse.

Last night I gave a talk at the Princeton Adult School on the legacies of the civil rights movement and the links to our world today. Just posted it on CAMPAIGN TRAILS:

These falsehoods against Somali Americans infuriate me. The vast majority are here LEGALLY. They were REFUGEES. We INVITED THEM HERE three decades ago. Many are citizens, and the vast majority are law-abiding. Attacks like these from Trump and others is the kind of talk that leads to atrocities.

unvarnished gutter racism and Nazism from the president. a disgrace to our country.

It was NEVER only about deporting undocumented people. Never.

This is about the concept of "continuous immigration vetting," an idea from Trump's first term. Rather than having people be checked for compliance at specific interactions with the government such as a visa renewals, there would be an automated system running constant checks.

I would like prominent Americans, including leading Democrats, to take on Trump's attempts to whitewash history the way Gov. Newsom has taken on his attempt to rig the 2026 elections: -Forcing Smithsonian and nat'l parks to erase facts; -Restoring Confederate statues & military base names.

Question for Mike Flood: With $450 million being allocated to Alligator Alcatraz, and ICE burning through $8.4 million a day to illegally detain people—How much does it cost for fascism? How much do the tax payers have to pay for a fascist country?

DHS serves up more blasphemy. "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" - Isa 5:20

DHS just posted another anti-migrant propaganda video with a bible verse. This time from Proverbs. The voiceover seems to be from The Batman (2022)

The headline, while duly noting that 15-year-olds shouldn't be detained in this abomination of a concentration camp, still implies that its existence is legitimate (i.e., it may not be for 15-year-olds, but it's OK for others). Miami Herald--you need to do better.

Worth remembering that Trump moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem. To his evangelical base, he's fulfilling end times prophecies before their eyes. What is happening right now is nothing less then God's work, and they believe that they are the recipients of the long-awaited promise of Jesus' return.

A corrupt, authoritarian government seizes an innocent man, tortures and jails him on trumped-up charges that change during a manipulated "legal" process. The prisoner is left at the mercy of dehumanizing politicians & jailers to do with what they please. Holy Week then. America now.

Dictatorships grab people off the street and jail them. Dictatorships demonize vulnerable minorities. Dictatorships destroy data. Dictatorships reject independent courts. Dictatorships buy the backing of the super-rich. Dictatorships persecute dissidents. See what’s happening, fellow Americans.

The Alien Enemies Act should have been repealed in the 1980s when Congress issued a formal apology and paid reparations to the Japanese Americans who were interned under the Act during WWII. It's the only one of the Alien & Sedition Acts, which Jefferson despised, still on the books.

Important. Either Trump is so far gone mentally he doesn’t know what he’s doing, or people are acting in his name without his knowledge. This was an order with enormous implications, and the President of the United States says he didn’t do it.

CNN@cnn.com

President Donald Trump downplayed his involvement in invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1789 to deport Venezuelan migrants, saying for the first time that he hadn't signed the proclamation, even as he stood by his administration's move.

I just read Chapter 7. Except that the author didn't anticipate Musk to be the principal agent of destruction in dismantling the federal bureaucracy (who could have?), the chapter reads like today's news. Wait for it: the root of the Right's hatred of the "admin. state" is---Hegel? Apparently so.
