Musk spending $1 billion or so to help Republicans, while devastating for democracy, is very reasonable investment for person worth $1 trillion or so (1) He has committed a lot of crimes against US and Republicans block accountability (2) Republicans will pay him back 100x in subsidies & regulations

On point (1) he had not right & power to summarily block congressionally approved spending, fire & harass government employees, steal data from US, interfere with military operations, etc. Safe to assume he was also involved in insider shenanigans involving both approval of M&A and other acts.

Poll-based pundits did terrible harm to US in 2024 (1) they leaned into a narrative going into election about how well Trump was doing with Latinos & working-class whites that perpetuated lies about what Trump would do if he won. This gave these folks reinforcement that their misinformation was true
