This decision is another in a long list that prioritizes major polluters over our health.
When these protections are dismantled, we see the very real consequences: children struggling to breathe, families facing higher medical bills, and communities pushed further into harm.
Our communities are paying twice for extreme heat: first through its toll on health and safety, then through unaffordable electricity bills. Utility shutoffs deepen the harm. Families deserve energy security, not another crisis to survive.

The brain is a terrible thing to pollute, at any stage of life.
Even the brains of fetuses can be harmed by the air pollution their mothers’ breathe—and the consequences can burden them for their entire lives.

I really don't think most people appreciate how much damage air pollution does to our bodies & brains. Even in the last 10 years the science has progressed a ton & everything it has discovered is *grim*.

Warmer oceans Contribute to an increased fraction of tropical cyclones that strengthen quickly...aka rapid intensification.
From 1980 to 2025, 190 Atlantic tropical cyclones rapidly intensified, and nearly one-quarter of these storms rapidly intensified at extreme rates.
Federal agencies are required to seek public comment when writing regulations or approving large projects.
The Trump administration is systematically undercutting that process, stifling public input on environmental decisions, writes Jody Freeman.

Power plants are one of the largest sources of climate pollution. Tearing down these protections is a complete abandonment of the EPA's core responsibility, and our communities will pay the price.

I am a scientist – and the answer is climate change.
Yes, there is nuance. Yes, it could take a long time to identify the precise mechanisms.
But there is no question why ice and snow-related disasters are on the rise. Our planet is warming at an unprecedented rate, and humans are responsible.
In Nepal, it will most likely take months for scientists to understand exactly what led to deadly flash floods that killed over 1,000 people and left thousands missing. Early theories posit glacier meltwater and a thawing permafrost could have contributed to bedrock collapse.
Heat kills 9,000 in the US each year — at least 5x higher than the reported total — but likely even more, and climbing.
The 2025 US murder rate was 4.1 per 100k citizens, about 14,000 people.
The heat Big Oil caused and lied about for decades is now murdering nearly as many people as all murder.
