This is terrible. The only moral option is to rewrite the entire kaboodle in Haskell

i once inherited a webservice written in php that shelled out to a python script that called a haskell binary to parse, edit, commit, and push bind zone configs to svn

PSA: the best way to protect yourself against the recent wave of memory corruption vulnerabilities is to take the RAM out of your computer and send it to me

Yo. @kenney.nl has done more to support up and coming devs, empower non artists and people starting out with accessible tech than any other single person I’ve encountered. Just wanted to throw that out there for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Just tried out the Deadlock beta and gang... that game is not enjoyable It feels like it has learned almost no lessons from any of the games nearest it mechanically or aesthetically

For example: if I wanted my game to have a readable second-to-second game state, which seems *pretty important* for a close quarters shooter, it seems like an unfortunate choice to set your entire game AT NIGHT. IN THE DARK

we don't talk enough about the total cultural victory of functional programming nerds honestly. big monad was really cooking with promises, even awful Enterprise Software SaaS sludgeware is monadic now

Here. Have this.

Netflix UK & Ireland {bot}@netflixuk.xmirror.bot

Here's your first look at CHARLIE BROOKER’S BLACKMERE ⬇️ A very, very, very, very, very serious crime thriller series about a tormented detective on a mission to catch a ritualistic serial killer before they run out of people to kill. Contains blood and frowning. Coming to Netflix early 2027.

Firstly, a female Doctor, played by an older actress with a background in theatre/comedy. For an added frisson, let's make the sidekick character the husband. And we'll lose the whole 'Doctor' tag and reveal the birth name, which is spelled 'Bucket' but

Deadline@deadline.com

The BBC has launched a tender process for 'Doctor Who,' calling on producers to pitch a "brave" new vision for the iconic sci-fi series.

The rust! The overly harsh shadows! The warning signs that for some reason obscure each other! There's no way this door even registers that you've tried to open it See also the "fire exit" sign above the door on the right, despite this being outdoors. Procedural generation's gone a bit wonky there

Had a quick look at the Sun just now, and everyone was right, it did some serious harm. Looking at it for any more than a couple of seconds is a terrible idea Bunch of vapid headlines about small boats and the royal family. Nice lady on page three though

Right listen up folks. Five heatwaves is too many. I am taking the unilateral decision to block out the sun Gonna give it a test run at about 7pm tonight xoxo

Just realised that, looking at the numbers, almost certainly more Whodle games have been played than the number of people who have watched S15E08 The Reality War...... #doctorwho #whodle

There once was a man called Ted Mowels Who had awful trouble with vowels He was wonderfully fond Of those he called 'frond' And he drank hot soup out of his bowels

Since we're doing North-South divide discourse again, here's the objectively correct breakdown of the UK that everyone can agree on

Alan Beattie@alanbeattie.bsky.social

Calling Andy Burnham King of the North is convenient for London media wanting a north-whisperer but it's gibberish. 1. Northerners hate each other. 2. Northerners disagree on what The North is. 3. If Burnham conflates Manchester with The North he'll have multiple peasants' revolts on his hands. 1/2

Douglas Adams reincarnated as a 26th-century historian: 'Despite all the odds, Joseph "What are you going to do, nuke us?" Webb is widely regarded as only the *second*-worst Prime Minister in the history of the United Kingdom. The worst...'

Stephen Bush@stephenkb.bsky.social

I think it’s impossible, short of triggering a nuclear strike against the UK, to surpass Liz Truss as the “worst ever”.

'...was Liz Truss, who, in the year 2022, held the post for only 49 days, during which time she crashed the economy, accidentally killed the most-loved Queen in modern history, and roundly lost the court of public opinion to a decomposing head of lettuce. ...'
