It's Pipes, Mum! Pipes is here!

Hello new people! If you like words I write, BOY HOWDY HEY do I have good news for you, bc I write words a LOT, and many of the things I write are free for you to enjoy at point of use - or otherwise pretty cheap to buy. BEHOLD! A SELF PROMOTION THREAD! (might pin this)

29m

Good suggestion by @champierth.bsky.social to put spoilers in the ALT text of an image. Following image has joke & plot spoilers for the Ghosts movie in the ALT text. Don't click it unless you've seen. (If you need ALT text for visual purposes, the picture is just of the ghosts & Alison outside)

Oh God I just remembered another one (Spoiler for the Ghosts movie in the ALT text, don't click unless you've seen it, image is a promo shot for the show of all the ghosts plus Mike & Alison)

More than ever I wish Bluesky had an Old Skool Livejournal style cut for spoilers bc there's some many lovely little details about the Ghosts film I keep thinking about but can't talk about for fear of spoilers.

This post is just so that the thread gets truncated and you have to click to see the rest of it, to keep ppl who haven't seen the film yet from happening upon me talking about it

And there are several touches in the Scene With The Computer that play with what those characters can and can't work out from contextual knowledge what to do - with something as complex as a 21st century desktop computer vs something as simple as a pen.

I also think it's cute that multiple ghosts now have a confirmed Type (Fanny: strong & silent, very physical men - Thomas: slim, Bambi-ish brunette women - Cap: hyper-capable, well-presented men of around 40 - Robin: kinda shabby looking yet mischievious middle aged women)

I'm going to keep it vague - Most of the details are down to thinking properly about what different things the different ghosts would know about or at least have enough context and intelligence to be able to figure out themselves & that aren't necessarily drawn attention to.

And they did this through the show! ie Robin is a polyglot who can read, as he taught himself around the living, reading over their shoulders. Pat & Julian have enough contextual knowledge of late 20th century tech for a lot of 21st century tech to make sense to them.

Ghosts Movie Broken Veil 🤝 Spooky antics that are 40% people i know from Joel's Christmas Drinks

Obviously if I talk about even the gags I loved it will spoil it but seriously it's great. It's everything that's wonderful about the tv series, but expanded slightly in a way that makes sense. As any good movie of a tv comedy should be.

This seems a very obvious point, but the result in Brazil reveals just how clean the line is between Left and Right re Interests - sure, plenty of normal people vote both sides, but the engine of the right is capital and the engine of the left is people.

Me when it gets dark at 5pm tonight even though I'm 47 and know how this works by now

Local FB group: constant paranoia that every man in a van is out to steal their pedigree dog on walks Local person when me & husband & kind nearby lady rescue their pedigree dog who was wandering the street collarless in the storm: very laissez-faire noticing that their door was wide open

(Kind nearby lady was a dog owner so got a spare lead for the lost dog, dog then stopped panicking and led us to the right ballpark area until a neighbour recognised the dog and where she lived & then we noticed the wide open front door)
